You can play the heroes without unlocking them with cards. Just choose one and click next. ;) Don't tell anyone. Try it before it gets fixed! Haha
I had this happen to me twice already but sadly wasn't in the first dungeon. No key anywhere. Only solution was quitting my progress with no reward.
