Good news, glad the dev stuck true to his promise when he emailed me back.
I finally decided to buy this last night and I'm glad I did. It's a very very fun game, it's just AWESOME. It's exactly pretty much the same style...

Looks so awesome, going to be fairly expensive though, probably more than Chaos Rings, but it'll be worth it.
