Filters that "soften things" are terrible. I don't want blurry vasoline smeared over my games. I'll buy when I get home but I'm not hopeful.

No Retina is the reason. You should welcome larger filesizes that allow the full features of iOS devices to be realized. See Carcassonne.
You can disable the filter completely, which is the best way to play in. They've even added in a window mode. These options might help Lunar sell...
