About respawning, I fell into a long row of spikes and respawned there every time, couldnt get out.
Choosing save & exit, click yes, game freezes, clicking no works

My pet peeve as I only play on my Ipad. Maybe its lot of work to make it work both ways, dunno.

I did level 8 but star turned to white, not yellow and level 9 didnt unlock. Why?

Timer will go away when you spend enough real money so you fill "Patron-meter". I dont know how much though.

Ipad Air, latest ios, before there were a few crashes, nothing worth mentioning, now it crashed after almost every fight when walking to next enemy.
You can watch ad if you want new quests. Otherwise you have to wait. Although for me game crashes everytime during ad.
