The game autosaves after every wave. A wave is 1:30 or 2 minutes long (one of the two!)
As long as it's full 3D over the shoulder and has a decent ammount of content and variety and a good story I'm happy.
it doesen't have a campaign, but it does have a story, it is just a little hidden.
