Ngmoco gives you 30 free power cells when you first log in to the game. After you use those, you can only get more power cells by buying them....
Agreed, I like the assault rifle way more than the shotgun. Of course, some people may be spending all their money on new items, and not upgrading...

Yes, each match takes up five energy, so three matches takes up 15, therefore 45 energy cells gives you nine matches for $2.
