If you make the red abit darker and more shiny it wuld look great. But I think the background of the original icon was better. ;)
Maybe put in some scenery like some small islands where there is nothing (no enemy) (just to make the game look nicer. :))

7Cities has got less towers (5) and less maps(7) and is 2D SWD is 3D, has got 7 towers and 26 maps. I like SWD more!
