Yes, she was very generous in offering to help The performance of Empty City 3D just got a big push in the right direction, but some objects don't load until a few seconds after the car arrives at the location of the object... Now I have to find the fine line between performance and speed of object loading. I am almost done now, I just need to get word back from a beta tester about the performance, tune the distance/object loading, and get word back from OpenFeint about an issue that I have. So right now, waiting.
Empty City 3D got previewed on a website! "Many have compared this game to Burnout Paradise (PS3/Xbox 360) and you can clearly see why The city is very well designed and is really fun to explore" The3AppMigos.com
you should start with a bang not a few wimpers heres the logic: "Basically it’s like a game of Crash Lander where instead of landing, you have to get off the moon. Earth is a far better place anyway. But on your earlier journey to the moon, Bubbles kept accidentally strapping the wrong tanks of gas to the side of the rocket, so now you have a dozen tanks of rocket fuel lying around, but you don’t know how full they are. Do you: A) Try them all one after the other, to see which one runs long enough to escape the moon’s gravitational field, or B) Strap em all on and light em at once. It’s simple physics. Do everything you can to get your app noticed on day one. If your launch fails, you’re going to have a hard time finding an alternate escape plan." heres the full article http://majicjungle.com/blog/?p=224 in my point of view the best piece of advice ever.
Agreed! I am trying to build up excitement for Empty City 3D and I already have quotes from 3 different sources to put in the description. A friend of mine posted on a few other forums that he is a member of. I also have several sites (including TouchArcade) that I will be sending promo codes and info to upon Empty City 3D's release
Like you said, it is hard to know what will sell and what will effectively get your name out there, but I'm going to give it my very best shot. With 6 months of development, I am putting everything that I know about marketing to good use
I was just thinking about that actually! From what I have heard here at TouchArcade, there is going to be a separate App Store for the iPad and I plan on releasing an iPad specific version of Empty City 3D for $1.99! I really appreciate all of the votes on the poll, especially the ones that are for $1.99/$2.99 Anyway, I can't test anything now, because as some of you may know, Unity 3D games cannot run on the iPhone Simulator (or any other simulator). What I am planning on do though, is adding a mini-map on the right hand side of the screen and that mini-map will show a top down view of the actual city (not a different map picture, but the actual 3D scene). The iPhone/iTouch does not have the horsepower to run something like that (nor does it have the screen space), but I am really excited to get to run this on the iPad. I will be purchasing the iPad upon it's release, but what model I get is decided by the success (or lack there of) of Empty City 3D. I have also heard that there will be a TV out port on the iPad, so I will be that much closer to my "hero game", Burnout Paradise. Overall, I am very excited for the iPad and I think that it will be a huge step up in gaming from the iPhone!
Actually iPhones and iPod Touch already have TV out support via a custom cable. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454
I purchased that cable awhile back and it only supports photos, videos, and YouTube, so you cannot play Apps on your TV.
Yeah, I'm not jailbroken, neither is my device... The only 2 things that make me interesting is jailbreaking are on the iPad. Custom background screen and TV output
Out of all my previous Apps, I had 1 review. Now, before my game even comes out, I already have 2 previews! Check out the PocketFullofApps.com preview: http://pocketfullofapps.com/empty-city-3d-preview.html
Hopefully a good interesting Albert and Evan are on the beta testing team, so you can ask them more about it if you are interested.
