I ended up staying up late playing this game last night. It definitely has that pull of "just one more time". The missions are solid and challenging. Still all in all I put something like 4 hours or more into this game between when I got it and this morning and I'm just a hair under 1% complete. This game is going to eat serious time until I get enough upgrades or whatever to really start earning more serious points.
I played for about 15 or so minutes just now and am at just over 10%. So either I was crazy before (possible) thinking I was just under 1%, or some of my latest upgrades have paid off. Overall, this game is pretty awesome. I can see why it's so well loved.
There are other similar games out there that are match 3 and rpg hybrids. Many were mentioned in this thread. Some are more RPG than this even is. It might be worth it to check one of them out and see how you feel. I'm not a huge match-3 person myself, but sometimes when done well I really enjoy em. I don't purposefully seek match-3 games out though. EDIT: Figured I'd edit instead of posting a new reply since it's not on sale at the moment... It took me a while to realize that the score in the top right was just my high score and the goal is to get a high score of 10M or better. I ended up maxing out everything and then finished the game up last night. Overall a great experience that is very well balanced. The only changes I'd love to see is something to do with the gold/wood/&other stuff after you've maxed out everything and of course GameCenter so I could compete with others for high score (just hopefully make it so the cheaters don't take over). Ideas? Maybe consumable items would be nice. Just anything to spend the extra stuff on to encourage play. No inApp stuff. I like that everything in the game has to be earned.
Well, technically you still havent coz that is from a long time ago too. Which raises a Q for me... Is Ninjackid still around?
It also received an update. Most noticable for me was the improvement in making matches. When making a match, if your match was a bit imprecise the dragged row or column would often snap back to its original position. However it will now snap into the match a bit easier, allowing for speedier gameplay. Fun game overall!
Thansk for heads up. I'll pick it up. I don't mind match 3 and this one's been recommended a gazillion times, just never had the urge to grab it. Until now. Why? No one knows.
IMO this one has the best match 3 mechanics in the way u can drag blocks right across the board also the top scrolling battle adds to the excitement. JUST GET IT, ITS GREAT
