This is the place to discuss all that is interesting in the world of baseballitude. Yankees probably bought another World Series title, Roy Halladay is great, the Orioles suck, and my Blue Jays are doing okay. How is your team doing? Anything interesting you'd like to talk about? Do it here.
Bought another WS title? They lost many of their many players (Matsui, Damon, Melky) while only picking up Vazquez (who's awful) and Granderson. They did not even pursue the more expensive options like Holliday and Jason Bay
They lost 3 players, 2 of which were aging, and the other one was traded to get Vazquez. Money played a large role in the Granderson trade. Vazquez is not awful, with a career ERA is just over 4. You also failed to mention that they signed Nick Johnson. The yankees payroll is around $190MM. That is all that needs to be said.
Go Angels! for AL and Rockies for NL. I miss the 2002 World Series... I despise the Red Sox and the Mariners
Well, first off, two years ago when we actually TURNED 10 years old we went to the World Series, where we lost, but we were definitely not last. We are in our 12th year now, and might I remind you that your Blue Jays only won their first World Series (also their first appearance) after 16 years? So showing up at the WS in 10 is pretty good. The Yankees only won the World Series 22 years after they started. So I'd say the Rays are doing pretty good.
That was not meant to be negative at all. The difference was the Jays had times where they were competetive in between their inaugural year and the world series championships, the Rays had 10 straight years of miserable records, resulting in top 5 draft picks on an annual basis. Also, the trade of Wise for Garza and Bartlett has turned out ot be brilliant.
I know i know, but i do still love my cubbies. going to a game May1oth actually against the marlins...night game at wrigley, nothing beats it
Oh. OK, I take back the offensive tone of my post And yes, we got EXTREMELY lucky with that trade or else we wouldn't be where we are today.
cool, but still sticking with wrigley over that. I mean the fans, the atmosphere, the clean north side of chicago, the bleacher seats, drunk people. its awesome
I went down to Wrigley with my girlfriend 2 years ago, day game against the Reds. Sat in the bleachers and spent all day in line to get seats in the front row. One of the greatest moments in my life sprinting to try and beat everyone to the front.
Didn't they play the 30th rank team in half of those games? Or should I look at their schedule instead of Fox Sports comments?
I tried to root for local teams, but I don't think they play sports in Kansas City anymore I don't follow baseball religiously, but the Red Sox are my team.
