metal gear solid, I think the 3gs might be able to handle it seeing as it was a ps1 game.

    Snatcher
    Policenauts (officially translated into English)

Both of those games would work well, as they are both adventure games and we have Beneath a Steel Sky, Secret of Monkey Island, and a slew of hidden object games (which are like lite adventure games when you get down to it). Also, both had brief action gameplay sections utilizing a light gun (which turned gallery shooter if you didn't have a light gun), and those sorts of games also work well on this platform (hell, MGS Touch is a "tap" shooter).

If Hideo Kojima would go back to these games and release "director's cut remastered editions" I would LOVE it and it would make me happier than a stealth MGS game, tbqh. Snatcher should be based on the Sega CD version, with "added" content in the form of being uncensored like the original MSX2 version, while Policenauts should be based on the Saturn version, which was the most "complete".

Also, since id is putting out classics like Wolfenstein and DOOM, I'd REALLY like a return of Commander Keen.

Holy crap, I can't believe I forgot about Ducktails. (though I guess that's more 80s)

Another one I forgot... Dark Forces (and Jedi Knight, if they could ever do it). The only Star Wars game currently on iDevice is crap, and the one coming up (Trench whatever) looks crapalicious too... so maybe Lucas Arts ought to think about porting some games from their non-crap days... hm? They obviously earned a few $$ with Monkey Isl. ;)

Someone said the original Suikoden and I agree with that! Also, Final Fantasy Tactics.

You know, there's a lot of games that won't work with the limited abilities of the iTouch/iPhone, and also with the small screen size. I think Final Fantasy Tactics would be pushing it...although I suppose if you zoom in when you're ready to move, it can work.

How would you play Street Fighter on the iPhone? Can you imagine trying to do a ShoRyuKen? Your fingers would end up being all over the screen and you won't even see the battle!

I would pay A LOT for Turrican 1 and 2!
Should be easily possible to bring it onto the idevices.
These games are still the best platformers for me.
Just everything (abilities, level design, music etc) is perfect.
Just thinking about that makes me nervous.

I'd pay LOTS to have the original Grandia in the App Store, but I know it's not going to happen.

    Glad jailbreak exists.:p

Turrican is one of my favorites from that era too, but I'm wondering how well a virtual d-pad would suit that game.

Klonoa! Control scheme would be incredibly easy to do on an iPhone, just two buttons and a joystick. God it would be amazing to be able to get this game for iPhone.

Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, Spyro, FF8. Basically a ps1 emulator with in app game purchases would be fuggin awesome.
