Well Gameloft's cut-scenes are always in-game cut-scenes so the character models should look exactly the same when playing. And of course his badge is stuck to his chest, did you not know that all cops are magnetic?
Gameloft_UK just tweeted this,so all you detectives on here are correct ''The toughest slums need the most daring cops to keep the peace''.
9mm The graphics looks pretty sweet, I'm kind off excited to see what they have in mind with controls, if anyone doesn't know already? These type of games tend to work bad on touch devices, or at least that's my personal opinion. Either way I'm def looking forward to it, I like the gangster theme
Though it looks like a cutscene those graphics are most definetly rendered by the device, and not just a video. (Or gameloft could have made it look ALOT better!) Have you played ANY other 3D game by gameloft? You'd know how the controlls will work and that they work quite well.
I would love to see a classic gangster/40's cop game on ios like L.A. Noire from Gameloft, instead of the typical fps and free roam. Well, we can still keep our fingers crossed.
"Boooo! Gameloft, stop copying big, well known games! Oh, btw, could you make something like L.A. Noire?"
No "clone", especially set in L.A., coupled with hip-hop music everywhere AND Gamelofts `notoriously great` voice acting, can EVER be worth even 1/10000000 of Max Payne. P.S.: Not to mention the absence of comic-cutscenes. The game looks great though, I wanna try it. I don't think it's free roam OR on-rails (it better not be), and oh God, it's the first game from gameloft when it's not immediately obvious which game was their `inspiration`! Congrats Gameloft!
I would say with Backstab as well, the "inspiration" is not immediately obviously, and Backstab came first. I suspect this game will completely lack in originality as well as any semblence of engaging characters or storyline, as usual, despite not being a clone, per say. Sometimes Gameloft hits the core gameplay well enough to make their games enjoyable despite lacking the other fundimental elements that make games great. Sometimes, they don't. It's a 50-50 proposition, really. Spiderman and Zombie Infection are certainly a few examples where the core gameplay is good enough to warrent playing through the game. Then, there are games like Ironman 2, where it ain't so good.
No I haven't. Just did a quick search and it doesn't seam to be a big problem, a lot of developers tend to forget the importance of the controls though.
You should try one then! But I can assure you that gameloft knows how to make the controlls right for iDevices. The release date hasn't been announced yet. (Or to answer your question: At the time of this edit it is the 24.th of May 2011, 9:58 PM in the UK )
Judging by TouchGen's article about the trailer being revealed, it might not have free-roam. He says he'll post his impressions on 'the first two levels', so '9mm' may just be level-based. http://www.touchgen.net/9mm-from-gameloft-hands-on-coming-soon I hope not. This is still purely speculation.
What is wrong with everyone these days? (mean that with sarcasm & humor) Why does EVERY game need to be open world to be enjoyed? That's like saying every great single player story needs multiplayer to be enjoyed... Level based games are just as awesome as open world games, they also usually have better graphics, too.
It adds more depth to the gameplay. When you're used to GTA, you dont want to play another gangster game in which you cant run around runnning people over and blowing everything up. Why do you think Crysis 2 sucks so much balls compared to the original? It's LINEAR. The stupid visor gives you options like oh go to the left of that car or to the right or go in that sewer...all on the same street to give the false impression of tactical gameplay. No more is it, go take a boat and gun the enemies from sea or climb onto that cliff and snipe, or go head on in a tank and the jump out and blow stuff up. Oh and it has worse graphics than the open world original. When they first announced Crysis 2, I thought I would be able to level the city. If I had to go to Central park, I could choose which street I wanted to take, whether I wanted a vehicle, a helicopter, whatever. I could have inifnite replayability. Then they gave the speech on action bubbles being needed to fit into console VRAM and there went one of the best PC series ever made.
Touchgens hands on now on site...please note most of you will not be allowed to play the game as you are not old enough to play such f-bomb language games so please retreat from thread and go check out doodle jump instead ..lol
Since it's not free roam I think gameloft can concentrate more on the gameplay and level design, wich is great! I'll update the front page with screenshots and a link to touchgens article now.
