forget about settlers-why?because biggest chellenge here is controls not game itself.plus no free play mode of any kind.and there was not or will be any update according to gameloft.in my opinion there isnt any must have rts for iphone(c&c is a ripoff).maybe War Inc.(only 59p and tons of content).recently Im playin Red Conquest(will be updated soon)and like it.hope it helped.

If the settlers is too expensive for you, then red conquest probably is too, being only .99 less... however, Robocalypse is only .99!! Have you already played that?

You really should try warfare, inc., it's actually really good. You'll get past the graphics after about 5 minutes of playing..

How do you think Canabalt / Doodle Jump / Eliss got up there in the charts ?

Is Boom Brigade considered an RTS? ( Psst. it went on sale only on 15th.. they'll put it back to a higher price soon if U wanna considr it ;) )

He refers to his sig though, which says 'Red Conquest'.

Yes, I was at work and just logged in for a quick reply on my iPhone. I did mean "Red Conquest!"

Well, If you really want to pay less, I believe John said that there will be a sale on Red Conquest! when multiplayer comes out. It's supposed to be submitted at the end of the month and hopfully it will go live by april. This really is a great game though. The red faction and blue faction are completely different and require different strategies to use. Add the mysterious new faction to the mix and you should have a well balanced 3-faction RTS. Further add the awesomeness of the current game, and I'm sure that the 3rd faction will be balanced as well. The campaign isnt the greatest, but the amount of control, graphics, the fast load times, auto-save, challenge missions, skirmish maps (large, small, medium) as well as being able to play up to 8 A.I (which are pretty good) totally makes up for a short campaign. The game is confusing at first and the controls take just a bit getting used to. But once you do, you'll find deep gameplay, great mechanics, balanced factions, and a great overall game. ;)

The retro-style graphics don't really appeal to me, though.

You could always save up your allowance for a couple weeks to buy the settlers - it's really really good. :)

Like I said, games that require a lot of strategy don't appeal to me.
