But you know what? So far it’s actually surprised me, the story and the combat are quite good and I’m enjoying playing it. It almost feels like a proper rpg, it’s worth checking out if you’re interested especially since it’s free anyway. If you aren’t bothered about being the best and having everything then spending doesn’t matter, besides you’ll still get everything just slower. Nice graphics, units to collect and upgrade the same for gear but this time it’s class specific and shared. Combat can be auto after you place units but you can also manually trigger and aim ultimate skills yourself. Exploration and story which seems great so far, along with some light puzzles. squarezero and sebgo like this. It’s just the kinda game you can pick up and play in short breaks then not worry about it too much. But oh man, the characters art, graphics and animations are out of this world. Especially for a game in this genre. It is clear that the amount of effort that went into making them was immense. Hats off to the devs for that. Yes, people will moan at the IAPs and some of the monetised mechanics but you know what, it takes a lot of money and effort to make a game like this (I should know, I work in one) and making isn’t enough nowadays, you need to keep pumping in money and manpower in these games to keep them going successfully. So if they do wanna monetise it to certain extent, and if it doesn’t hinder my gameplay much, then I am ready to understand that. Making games is expensive nowadays. It’s just the way it is. ste86uk, sebgo and squarezero like this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #4 ste86uk, Mar 28, 2024 @Rocksaint don’t forget all the voice acting too! So far I’m really impressed by the amount that is voiced. I also love the little touches like butterflies and geese that run away when you go near them like you’re chasing them. Nice little touches in places that make the world feel a bit more alive. Rocksaint likes this. I’m not a fan of some texts being voiced and some not. But I understand it’s a lot more demanding for games like these. Yes, all those little touches make the world feel real, lived-in, immersive. We don’t see such details in mobile games. Most devs would cut corners in order to save time/money or improve overall performance. Kudos to them for pulling it off. ste86uk likes this. solarnya Well-Known Member Jul 22, 2015 907 287 63 Male Close to Tokyo, Japan #6 solarnya, Mar 28, 2024 unavailable on Japanese store sebgo likes this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #7 ste86uk, Apr 2, 2024 My battery section says I’m 28 hours in on this one and I’m still loving it, still plenty of story going on and I don’t feel like I’ve grinded yet at all because of all the story. But I know ultimately between content drops it’s likely to be a grind fest end game. I haven’t been closing it in multitasking as it helps launch the game faster. Usually when I do this games are only active for a few minutes, but the battery says this has 27 hours background time! Is it going to be sucking up my battery if the battery is counting all that usage time? Usually they don’t do that but I think I’ll start closing it in multitasking just to be safe. squarezero likes this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #8 ste86uk, Apr 11, 2024 They posted some info about updates and the future, all sounds good and interesting to me. I’m glad I’ve stuck with it and sunk my time in because I still genuinely enjoy the game. 40 hours played in the last 10 days, can’t remember how many days ago it even come out though. But honestly I think this would be fun even for someone that wants a single player rpg experience, you could play the story and the game. Miss out arena if you want, not pay a penny and enjoy over 40 hours of content for free. No idea how long it’ll actually take me to finish though! But new content in May already. https://afkjourney.farlightgames.com/web/detail.html?id=0&lang=en&fbclid=IwAR38uq5m2Q6xP2VlYodsUKfdpF6v6VNihXargTK297qpCtcWj45eb8yzRIY_aem_ATVSan9Fp3_K3vhL0wkaReUYcfYmpZ-dR6wQ3ZFal4i9T7KYy4PX0zZfrFyFKUT6hW4 sebgo likes this.
