ANY Idea when this is coming out ??? Ive been following this since they announced it as railroad revolution... FFS..
As I wrote before: Oh, by the way: It is end of May ... So I don't think this will be come to life ...
Thank you for asking - I appreciate your interest! The quick answer is that it is very much a WIP. However, I am truly sorry for the repeated delays and not being able to update the state on this open thread (there are some very good reasons for this - I will get back to all that later on). I know quite a few people are waiting for news and updates on this project - in fact I get emails from people who want to know the state of the project on a daily basis and I try to answer each and every one personally and feeding these personal emails with news bits and updates from time to time. The game is constantly being refined, tweaked and adjusted - even though I have been making games for a living since mid 90's, and I have been working on a dozen games on many different platforms - I guess it took me by surprise how much testing and gameplay-tweaking has been necessary for this game, due to the huge amount of content available for gameplay. Just the strategy/campaign part alone is 8-10 hours of gameplay to play through - and with eight Great Leaders to choose from (which very much affect the gameplay) a full testing cycle is almost impossible amount of work, and on top of that each of these options must be tested with many different tech-tree configurations. In the sandbox mode, there are thousands of cities, towns, farms, mines, industries, harbors etc spread out on a gigantic map - with progression and unlocking of new US States tied to the progression on the campaign... ...so, whenever I make full test build - it takes several people a full week to play test this game...and I don't want you guys to be my guinea pigs. So, again - my deep apologies for this project tanking way much more time than I had ever anticipated. And I truly appreciate the interest you guys show. I surely hope you will think it is was worth the wait, when it finally comes out... Kind Regards, Sven
Looks like a great game. Waiting for release... Knowing of how much importance the quality aspect is for you, definitely makes me want to buy this game. I don't mind waiting if the end result is a polished game. Anyway, you should release it when you feel it is ready to take the jump.
Well, it was close, but I never gave up hope. This project has definitely faced some serious setbacks. It was close to get a release autumn 2010, before the main developer was injured and hospitalized for a very loooong time and then some... In the meantime a lot of changes took place, not just with the devices on the market, but also distribution models and most everything else. So the project has been refreshed and updated to reflect those changes. For those of you who participated in the beta back in summer 2010, you will find that the "new" Age of Trains has A LOT more content, a LOT of new game mechanics and is basically a TOTAL refresh in pretty much all departments. Hope you will enjoy it ... Soon I want to bring some of you back in the loop and get some feedback on some of those new game mechanics. I will not promise any fixed release date at this point - there are still quite a lot of updates, polish and fixed to implement ... but we're getting closer to release and the project is definitely not dead. In the meantime I just wanted share what you should expect to see on a device like the iPhone 5 - with all the extra memory and all the extra power I think it is getting close to rival the looks of the Mac version.
Ok, unless I upload a pic of my tombstone (in which case you might have to wait for a very, very long time) - I'll serve you Age of Trains long before iPhone 6 Actually, given my track record on this game, I think you will be pleasantly surprised about the release date - and there will be a soft-launch program available some time before official release, and I'll be happy to see you online
