This game look awesome. However, I don't see any NPC in the screenshot. Will there be any NPC or will the main character be alone just like in Myth?
Thanks for keeping the Thread fresh with new Content. Could you also tell us a little bit more about the Story? Is it a Thriller where everyone could be your Enemy and is something hiding from you or more of a Mystery Horror Story where you are always trying to catch someone/something and whenever you believe that you are close enough to finally solve the Crime/Mystery something happens and you are starting from the literally Beginning? ...Yes i do love Stories like "From Hell" and similar Stuff and i own those Comics/Books/Movies... Before i forgot. I did sent you the requested Mail. Sorry for the Delay but i am currrently working on 5. Projects at the same Time.
@ PnExt... We are hoping for a release sooner than later. We are considering a partial release to get it out sooner with a "To Be Continued" at the end of Act 2. Then via an update or 2 down the road, we would release the remaining acts of the game. If all goes well, we will have a release this Fall. @Echoseven, Glad you like the look. We hope the game/story lives up to your expectations. I can promise you...there will be some good depth and it won't be over in an hour...it should last you a few days...at least. @ADRGANG and Sanuku, The game is a 1st person perspective. There is story narration that refers to you...as if its your thoughts. The game is void of embodied characters (for now at least)...much like the classic Myst was. The story is... You arrive at the castle and find that it has been abandoned. You are the sole remaining heir to the fabled castle and you must explore the grounds and complex for clues as to what has caused the sudden abandonment as well as the fate of your missing Uncle. Your ultimate goal is to restore the glory of the castle. How you do that is a mystery. The storyline is revealed slowly as you progress. Its one of those..."figure it out as you go"-type adventures. Our goal is to mix some fantasy in with realistic and suspenseful scenarios and push the game forward through several dynamic puzzles along a similar vein as Myst and Riven. The puzzles will be more about figuring out sequences of the story rather than just simple mini puzzles stitched together...as many games of this genre tend to be (although there will be a few mini-puzzles to mess around with). There will be lots of hidden objects to find in the world (such as keys and energy crystals) and lots of locations to explore...both interior and exterior places. We are trying to make a game that has a respectable amount of depth and lots of terrain to investigate and a look all of its own. We are hoping the puzzles are somewhat original and challenging and that it is fun for all ages. Stay tuned...we will be releasing the title soon once we are confident we have a fixed release date scheduled...hopefully within a month or so. These types of games take a lot of time to develop and timelines are tough to estimate as everything tends to take longer than you expect. In the meantime, you might check out our other Furious Apps:
Here are a couple more view plates we've recently completed of the scaffold and the blacksmith's stairway.
Nice ! I wonder if the story of this game is good. i really like adventure games that have great stories.
Awesome Wow, that looks absolutely amazing. I'm definitely going to be staying tuned for its release! Good work, dude!
@Adelaidejewel and wooseokjo: I'm glad you like the look. I think you will find the story interesting. I gave a brief outline of that story in an earlier post. Below is a view of the courtyard with a look at the outside of the castle and the gate house in the middle.
Below is another view of the courtyard with looking back at the outside of the stable quarters and the guard house next to the scaffold.
Are all those the pictures we will be looking at while playing? (I don't mean the locations, rather the images themselves)
@Echoseven Yes. These are panorama view plates that are stitched together with invisible waypoints. You will drag your finger to look around the plate and tap within the image plate to walk to different waypoint or to interact with things. With each tap, the view will update to the next view. There will also be fixed navigation buttons to turn right and left, look up and down, move forward or backward or turn around. Each of these view plates will be 3 times the width of an iPad screen and about 4 times the width of an iPhone screen.
Sorry, I might be overly critical, but the graphics don't match the story. This doesn't look like an abandonded castle, it looks like a rendered castle that lacks a dirt pass or any detail that makes it not look like it has just recently been built. And it so well lit, it doesn't seem to leave room for any secrets at all. It looks great technically, but it doesn't make me want to explore it.
@LazyGamer... I should probably clarify that although the castle is abandoned, I would not say it is in disrepair. The story is built around the idea that you have arrived to the castle and your Uncle has gone missing. The castle complex is vacant and your mission is to reclaim it as the sole remaining heir to it. I should also note that the scaffold lighting shown in some of my preview images is one puzzle in the game. When arriving at the castle courtyard, the lights are off and you are tasked with turning the lights on so that you may climb around on it. Hopefully you will still want to explore the game as I think you will find a lot of experiential depth to explore in the 3D world. The reason for the dramatic color and lighting in the art is to make the game a little more visually appealing and take advantage of the awesome color quality in the iPad and iPhone displays. @ everyone else... Stay tuned, we should be announcing the title soon. If you can't wait for the TouchArcade announcement...you might visit our website this weekend at www.furiousApps.com.
Does look spectacular and proper adventure games are my absolute fav genre, so I guess I'll be giving this one a try.
It is probably a matter of taste, most people here seem to like the style, I am more into dark and "crumbled". But if it isn't all that well lighted from the beginning that more or less voids my concern about it not being mysterious enough.
Now its official!!!! This new point and click adventure now has a name... We've called it "Riddenhurst" You can check it out at www.riddenhurst.com
