So I bought IF. Really fun. Unarmed mode reminds me of Fireball, yet doesn't have that extra something that makes Fireball so intense. Overall I'm liking it so far. Definitely worth the 0.99 Thanks for the answers, guys --- Oh and what's the difference between the 3D and 3D(2) settings?
If you're interested in arena shooters..Infinity Field is great. Also look at PewPew. PewPew is my personal favorite space arena dual stick shooter.
That's weird, for me the music interaction always felt pretty good. The light effects, the enemies, the bullets and everything seems to follow the music, and as I play with light effects on 150%~200%, the game is really beautiful to look at while I'm listening to my library. I respect your opinion, but for me Beat Hazard Ultra is a nice game and I still recommend it. I have it for a year now and still come back to it pretty often. @Bronxsta: Too bad it was on sale at $0.99 two days ago. (Bug Panic and Inferno+ are among my favorites as well.)
I read in other reviews that the music-gameplay effect wasnt just visual but affected everything from amounts of enemy attacking to weapon damage. So you have to be more defensive during calmer beats and have to deal with more enemies but have more powerful weapons during loud intense music Have people noticed this?
Yep, that's how it works, and in my opinion it works pretty well. Enemy spawning order is random (so you'll never play the same game when you play the same song) but the waves intensity/difficulty comes from the beats. Only the weapon upgrades are not directly related to the music, as they come in power-ups dropped from enemies you kill (other power-ups include 4 kinds of secondary weapons, volume-ups, money and score multipliers).
Well Beat Hazard is a fun game but opinions are varied. I got it in a thread I made asking for music games and I was recommended this, and at that very same thread there were people discussing about how they felt it interacted with your music and they disagreed a lot. TA's review loved the interaction, I guess it's largely personal, I didn't find it that it influenced my game much except for visuals. I gave it another try last night and found it fun in survival mode, boss rush would be better if it had more variety.
Oh btw anyone mentioned Solomon's Keep? I discovered it last week, a nice old dungeon crawler DSS you control a wizard with a variety of spells. Free now so worth a try (iPhone only)
Yeah, I love Solomon's Keep. Actually it's the game that got me interested in dual stick shooters --- I got Infinity Field. Is it worth getting Ballistic as well? They seem pretty similar
I don't have IF and I like Ballistic a lot. I suggest you search it in the TA app, there's an 8 minute video that basically shows all the game has to offer (upgrades, different kinds of enemies etc) since it's not a complex game. I saw the IF video and it seems to have bosses and maybe a richer campaign, the main draw to me in Ballistic are the visuals and sound.
