...meaning for the black friday/xmas thing. i've been using a loaner ipod touch for the last few months, got hooked on well over a hundred games, and last night they had to take it back to give it to some school principal for a state project. this is giving me the excuse i needed to get the newer 3rd gen unit, but was hoping i could do it after finding some special black friday sale or something like that. anyone know from past history whether these things go on 'sale' at all during this period? i would assume apple doesn't discount much of anything ever, but then again i never cared enough about black friday sales to look for anything... until now. so anyway, is the 280 free shipping/no tax about the best i should expect for a 3rd gen 32gb touch until they release a 4th gen? TIA
I dont recall ever seeing any apple products in a sale, though i think you can get student discount on ipods.
BestBuy is supposedly gonna put the $200 one on sale for $200 with $30 iTunes GC. Wal-Mart will have it for $195 and $50 iTunes, again, leaked ads so not sure. Apple had a black friday sale last year, supposedly this is it: But you'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Better get there early stores are gunna be SOOO PACKED sales only one day so it will be hell im thinkin of gettin up at 530, how bout you guys do you plan on going?
i thought about waiting, but then i realized i don't bother with retail stores anymore. whatever i might have saved on an ipod at any retail store by running over little old grandmas and kids, i would have lost back with taxes. i see a lot of promotions for the 8gb pseudo 3rd generation model, probably cuz most people don't want it. i'm only interested in the 32gb model, and i highly doubt they're going to be letting those out the doors with 30% off. so its off to amazon/buy.com for me, maybe ebay, but don't seem to be any savings on those there from anyone reputable.
do apple employees get any discount, you could always get a jawb at apple, use the discount, and have the best of both worlds
It depends where you live. If you're in the UK then go to Currys, you can get any of the new 3rd gen Ipod Touches with a £25 itunes gift card and a mini speaker which I think is a prettty good deal; not exactly a sale... I got my 64GB one there yesterday. HMV do a similar thing but with no speaker.
I remember last year or 2 years ago, that on the Online Apple Store, they had like an 10% discount or something like that but it wasn't much.
