Wait, were those the robots that you controlled like RC cars but could shoot lasers and punch each other? If so, holy crap I was addicted to those! I had a TON of cards, 3 bots each with its set of armor, and I think 2 different traps. Yet, I could never find anyone to do battle with except for once really, and one of them didn't respond to the controller properly. If that's not what you're talking about, then nope. EDIT: I just realized that you said "Remember that show a few years back?" I feel like an idiot lol.
I loved that show, I went to Home Depot once with a friend looking to buy parts so we could build one but once we got there we realized nether of us know anything about robotics.
Wait... nevermind, I remember this show now! It was awesome! I always would sit there and ignore pretty much everything else when it came on, even though I was always at someone's house when it was on since I didn't get it at my house. I miss that show now...
Wow, i guess i wasn't the only one who loved this show!! Wasn't there a season where it was on robot trying to get through a maze? Or was that the qualifier? I don't remember... I still have the video game...i'll have to play it again!
Wait... there was a game? What system was it for? I might check it out just to see what it was like... And I just remember one robot with I think lawn mower blades on top that spun around and pretty much destroyed everyone. I'm pretty sure that dude won. I can't remember too well though, it was a quite a while back and I can't remember most of the details on the show.
It was on GameCube: I do remember that blade...and that dude DID win. There was on helicopter-esque bot...that guy won for sure. He went up against a regular blade bot. It was a horizontal spinner versus a vertical spinner. Horizontal bot won.
Ok... now I remember seeing that in the video store when I was a kid and the Gamecube was still around. And I thought that horizontal blade one did win. How could it not? I also remember one that was mentioned before that had a slanted front and was heavily armored so that it flipped opponents over or pushed them onto the obstacles placed around the arena. I think that one did pretty well also.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THAT SHOW! What happened to it? Can I see the old show somewhere? I think it was actually called BattleBots. EDIT: I found a BattleBots video, Season 2 Episode 1. http://www.drowningcity.com/bbs2e1.htm
It was a good show but I didn't like how many matches came off one sided. I guess that's the beauty of the show, because it shows who can make the better fighting robot but I'd rather see a scripted show with real close matches (aka WWF in the 90s)
Whats cool about this show is that the guys from mythbusters all used to do this and then Jaime got the go ahead for a show and got Adam and Grant. Its weird how they were just random robot buildin nerdy dudes and now they are super famous.
