thats how i interpit it.. even if its not wide spread and it is users whining..( and whining seems a little harsh cause if you are one of them who has the problem t hen its a issue ( most big company's would still recall.. i cant think of how many recalls iv heard on the news.. will not effect etc etc.. but we are taking them all just to be safe etc. i do not have a need for a cell phone at this point.. however, i am invested in my ipod so will def be sticking with it for years to come.. if and when i need a cell ill then shop around and if its a android i go with so be it i have my ipod to play games etc.. chris.
To me the perfect cellphone is one that doesn't deviate from being a cellphone too much. Which is why I prefer to own an iPod Touch and a regular phone.
yeah, and this point my ipod touch goes with me like my wallet. i do not even think about it anymore i just grab them both before i leave the house. chris.
I'm not. I don't want my phone to become useless after 2 hours of video has drained the battery down to zero. I wouldn't say "most" either, more people have regular cellphones than smartphones.
Admittedly, I was thinking of games when I said 2 hours, not video. The iPhone 3G will run out after about 2 hours of GTA:CTW in my experience. I'm sure the iPhone 4 is much better, but that still doesn't mean I want to gamble away my battery life on entertainment, I need a fully-functioning phone at all costs.
True -- and to be fair Steve did say they aren't perfect. More to the point though Apple has never been in this position before -- any of it. They've never been this big or this successful, they've never had clearly world-class products with massive user adoption before. That started with the iPod and continues into the iPhone and iPad. They've had success after success, and while there have been a few glitches they've never had to face down a media shitstorm like this before, because they've never enjoyed popularity like this before. When was the last time Apple held a press conference solely to address something media turned into a major issue? I can't remember it happening once. Popularity makes you a target, and if you're not careful you'll hoist yourself with your own petard, and that's a bit of what's happening now. It's something Apple is going to have to learn how to deal with as they go, because it's something they've never had experience with before. This is where it gets dicey, and so far Apple has been ... well, something approaching adequate. It's not the solution everyone has been looking for -- it's not really a solution at all -- but a free case isn't bad, and people who bought bumpers will get refunds. I don't think this is over, though, and I suspect Apple is going to keep looking into this. The media attention may die down to a dull roar, but I have a feeling Apple's going to look into a hardware revision that better isolates the antenna in some fashion, be it a non-conductive coating or better internal insulation or whatever.
id agree with that.. i also thought when steve jobs mention the media going after them.. he mention something to the like would you rather us be a none usa company.. i would have to look at the notes to get the exact quote.. all i could think.. the tsuff is not made here.. so whats your point. i did not understand that.. shrugs. hell my mom works for toyota head of the financial section here in chandler Arizona.. they been under the gun.. at least they make there cars here.. so media could careless what country you are from.. And steve has been using the media for years to his advantage.. so should he really be bitter at them for a valid problem.. chris.
Are people honestly going to moan about using a case? I'm never going to buy an iPhone an not use protection on it of some sort. I'm a clumsy b'tard and I don't trust not having one. The only reason not to have one is because you don't want to hide the aesthetics of the phone, but there are plenty of easy solutions (a clear case or the Bumper). The phone works great without a case (unless you are Brian :\) , and it works better with one. Either way you want to do it, the choice is there.
No it doesn't work great without a case, I will ask anyone to do a speedtest while holding the phone (deathgrip) and youtube it, it doesn't work and I don't believe anyone here that says it does... I'm sorry but after personally checking 5 devices myself you'll have to convince me otherwise that there is any that don't do it.... But I still love you sammy
yeah im cluts i use a flip top case. meaning the lid protects the screen.. i flip it out and i feel like its a star trek communicator but so much more powerful minus its my ipod and not a phone.. when apple brings face to face crazy to the ipod then i will totally have a starttrek communicator with wifi. laughs chris.
Hahaha love you too Bri! I think it may be worse in the US than it is here in UK buddy. I trust you 100% on the issue and I can see why you feel pissed. I would be too. I'd say you are definitely not an anomaly, just find a sweet case and enjoy your phone, right bro?
LoL, I have a good silicone skin (ugly yellow, but some people love it?) and I'm getting my white bumper next week from apple (free!), and I also have a free otterbox coming in a few weeks, good for fishing and the FL rain Like I said I always intended on using a case, but I still think it's lame users are pretty much FORCED into using a case...
yeah my pain doctor would not like using a case. would be to bulky for his dress slacks i think? right now he just uses as it is.. and yes he uses his iphone for stuff during our appointment. he is all high tech.. using a laptop, and his iphone for some app i forget now which one he uses. chris.
I'm pretty sure it just depends on the specific networks and coverage in your area. As I mentioned earlier my friend's brother has one, they're sorta towards the middle-north or England and he's able to make calls drop on his iPhone 4 by holding it with the deathgrip.
I doubt you even own an iphone 4. The loudest, most negative people about the issue don't even own an iphone 4. Most of the journalists talking poop own one and even with all the hoop-la, they aren't rushing to take theirs back. In fact, no one is rushing to exchange or get a refund, despite all the freaking negative press. This has really become the "Lindsey Lohan" of tech news. Funny that if most people find their neighbor cheating on their wife, they probably won't give a $h!t, but when Kobe Bryant cheated on his wife, the whole world stood in awe and shunned him for it. It's really sad that with all the horrible things happening around the world: death, torture, government corruption, illegal wars, prostitution slavery, bankers running the world, flouride in the water supply, genetically altered foods, cancer, corporate greed, destruction of the middle class, starvation, famine, disease, taxes, tyranny /////// People get so riled up about a stupid, freaking antenna issue. Take a long look in the mirror and learn to set your priorities straight. Like Socrates explained, "the mindless pigs are too busy squabbling over what's left in the trough and should be excluded from having any participation in a politics." Anyone that bitches so hard about something so insignificant is truly displaying their role as the "Bronze" (bottom of the triangle) of society.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/16/live-from-apples-iphone-4-press-conference/ People are taking this way, WAY too seriously. Did you even see the comparison between dropped calls for 3gs and 4th gen? Did you look at the rate of returns? It is statistically BETTER than its predecessor, even with this (non)"issue". Complaining about <1 out of 100 calls being dropped is making mountains out of molehills.
LoL, funny you question my integrity when you only have 34 posts, if I must I'll make a youtube video to show you the issue I'm describing like I have said earlier. But really does youtube need another video showing the exact same thing again? BTW, are you steve jobs? You seem to have taken my comment pretty seriously...
I don't think <1 out of 100 calls dropped is the problem though. People in areas with weak signals are going to be getting far more dropped calls than others. Yeah it's overblown and people are moaning about it for no reason, but there is definitely a selection of people who for whatever reason can cut the signal entirely by holding the phone wrong.
