What are your opinions of apples upcoming tablet? Too expensive? Useless? Or a must get?
I think eventually I may get one if the price is reasonable

I am very interested in seeing the rumoured iTablet (whatever it may be called) but it's hard to speculate with knowing solid details.

I love my iPod Touch: its only real flaw in my eyes is that the screen is too small, so if the tablet is essentially a larger version of an iPod I would think it's great. I just wonder about the price – I think my Ipod was a bargain at $200, but a price of $1000 for the tablet would put it out of my reach.

Eh, it depends on the size of it, it's sturdiness, and design. I don't want just a really big ipod, but one that'll fit comfortably on my lab or on a desk without being clumsy and unstable. I'll know if I like it when I see it.

A5 size would be perfect IMO.
Small enough to fit comfortably into your hands, but not as small as the iPhone or iPod Touch.
But it'll probably be like A4/laptop size.

I think the suggested price at one time was 400-500$s so not bad :)

I'm quite interested as well. I hope they take this opportunity to build the iTablet more like a Mac than the iDevices were, and allow for programs like Microsoft Office or Garageband to run on it effectively.

But, of course, if they do something like that, then the price will likely have to be higher. I guess we'll just have to see what happens when they finally announce it.

Too big to fit in your pocket. Too clunky to be practical like a laptop.

    Pass.

    Official name: iSlate

    This name is kinda......odd.

    Official price: $1000

That's all that's been announced so far, but it will be revealed on January 26th at the next Apple conference.

    Can't wait! :)

Well that's not the official name/ official price because it hasn't been officially announced yet. And according to Pocket Gamer, it will cost only $600.

    New info!!!

An Apple employee tipped us off.....

    :D

    Look here for it!

"Whilst we assumed that there were enough of Apple iSlate speculations, along came the images of Apple iSlate technical specifications. An anonymous tipster (Apple employee?) tipped Phone Arena with documents of 7.1-inch Apple iSlate tablet which will feature Mac OS X 10.7 Cloud Leopard. Looking almost too good to be real, the specifications of the Apple iSlate will surely bring many on their toes. Sadly, the product launch is set on January 26 (which is still a couple of weeks away), and the tablet will go for sale in March.

As per the specifications document, the upcoming Apple Tablet is dubbed as iSlate and will bear 7.1-inch multi-touch widescreen display with 'intelligent feedback'. A special oleophobic coating layer will be applied on the touchscreen to make fingerprints resistant.

Further more, the document mentions hardware specifications as 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3MB L2 cache, upto 8GB DDR3 1066MHz, 120GB HDD 4200RPM, built-in iSight camera, built-in Projector. Other features are standard like Gigabit Ethernet, SD Card Slot, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and "AirPort Extreme" WiFi which is spelt as Airport Extreme WiFi with 802.11 draft N specifications.

The most interesting part of this document is the Operating system which is dubbed Mac OS X Clouded Leopard 10.7. We gauge that iSlate will run a stripped down or custom Leopard version that will connect most apps to a cloud server for storage, data pull, etc. Other Mac apps like iTunes, Mail, Safari, Spotlight, etc. would be included in the Mac OS X 10.7 version. "

    WHO'S EXCITED???? I KNOW I AM!!!!

That honestly looks too good to be true, but I'll probably be sticking with my MBP. Don't have the money or need for one of those. Be handy for college, though. A laptop for my dorm/wherever I'm living, a slate just for classes and notes.

If it actually turns out the way KGameLover1's post indicated, I may very well end up buying one.

I'm only interested if it has at least a 7 inch display and can run existing OS X apps. The idea of having to start from scratch or worse yet rely on existing iPhone apps is far less appealing.
