If I was playing it on a console, that'd be ok. But I'm playing on a small screen with limited controls; it shouldn't focus so hard on stealth & finesse.
I don't think this game was meant to be a hack and slash kind of game. If you played most of the AC games, they're more about stealth and patience. This game has that.
O. I must have it wrong then. A lot of people are saying that but I never got that sense from the game. Maybe I'm playing it the wrong way
You might be right. First bought it when accidentally released. Had trouble on the weapons clash with the guard when I just hit the buttons. I just tried it again and had no problem just hitting the buttons.
You have the block move. It helps against those strong guards. It works pretty well but I would rather sneak up on them, or throw daggers. Another reason this is not a hack and slash game is the addition of Ezio's senses. The yellow arrows are very useful on sneaking up on them or passing by without notice.
c You can't get through the stealth missions by just hacking away. If you're spotted four times, you fail. The chase missions are all about speeding through the platforms -- again, no hack and slash. On the "normal" missions, you can choose to either power through or use stealth. But even there, once you go a bit further into the game, there are enemies that can only be defeated with stealth (or just avoided). Every one of these missions offers multiple pathways -- you can go on the rooftops, or travel closer to the ground, etc. Look, I understand that many people here are just not impressed by side-scrollers. Personally, I think a well done one is a thing of beauty. @derek420: I have no problem with finesse using the screen controls -- that's actually my favorite aspect of the game.
Other than some ridiculous jumps that you can't prepare for falling 300 feet downwards to your death, and the lack of a wanted poster counter, this is spectacular.
Yeah, that's what I had to do origionally. Didn't want to say the OP was wrong without checking. When I just did, all I really did was blunder my way through. I was only speaking of the first mission. I don't see this as a hack and slash game. However, it's just my opinion.
I couldnt agree more. As frustrating as the first one was at times, (i even started a thread about that once), i dont even think the two games compare. I think the first is much much better. Why they decided to make this game 2D is beyond me and i think they did this game a great injustice and disservice. It just is so much cooler as 3D/2.5D. And the blind jumps and falling all the way to your death are ridiculous. There is no challenge to the fighting at all. its a simple timing button push which bests your opponent with a counterstrike everytime.
I accept your views in the same way that I accept that some people prefer Star Wars Episode 1 over the Empire Strikes Back. Makes me despair for humanity, but what are you going to do?
I think it's simply a matter of taste. For me, NOVA and CoD are overrated too, just a glorified Wolfenstein 3D, that's all. But if I love FPS, suddenly those two games feel amazing. Same goes with GTA: CW. You can call it the best game on AppStore or a mindless gangstar-wannabe game. It all depends on what kind of games you like. What I don't understand is, why some people must force others to follow what they like / dislike. If you like it, good. If not, don't buy it, don't follow the thread, but you don't have to bother yourself making a thread just to bash the game and those who love it. You'd better spend that time playing the game you like (and I probably don't).
Star wars episode 1 over Empire Strikes Back? There are those that actually believe this. Now thats just blasphemy. Would have to be ignorant tweens. But thats an entirely different discussion.
You are doing the exact same thing you are saying YOU dont understand. He started a thread cause he had an opinion and wanted to see what other people thought. Isnt that what a general discussion forum is for? Am i missing something here?
While i dont think debates of opinion of videogames or movies is cause for one to despair over the future of humanity, i do agree that yes we can agree to disagree.
you'd be surprised at how often people don't realize this, and how painfully quick they are to overreact and get up in arms over the littlest of things on these boards. if you have a clashing thought or opinion, the discussion will dissolve in a pathetic manner. that's a part of touch arcade. while i'm not thoroughly impressed with the title, i wouldn't say it's horrible. but it's certainly overrated here, and wasn't particularly worth the 10 dollar purchase. i think STP's review really hit all of the points on the head, and gave it a worthy 3 out of 5 score, which is far from a bad thing. i think those that are a bit unsure should wait for the inevitable demo before taking the dive. a pricedrop to 6.99 certainly wouldn't hurt the penny pinching crowd either.
