Now that's odd - I have Magellan Jr. on and it doesn't show in Audiobus... EDIT: Nevermind, I hadn't updated it.
Greyskull : you've bought '76 synth! I was looking after, videos are great, but i don't bought it yet... Is it really as good as it seem? Why no one talked about it? Thanks for Jack explanation, i understand it's interesting for midi routing too. And i hesitate with echo pad, which is on sale now, i don't know if it's a gadget (i like those, but i have so much of them) or is it really good. I think it's worth 2 bucks or three, but... For the moment i make a little break (i have to read a lot of new manuals with new hardware, it takes all my time). I have to play more with iMini, even if it's monophonic in TableTop. Try it a bit, and it's soooo good. And audioshare is on sale too, and looks good too. Too much valuable things at the same time!
Caved in and bought EchoPad - looks like I'll be in delay/flanger heaven with this one. Not sure how much I'd use it now, but AudioShare does look good. Been an expensive day, thanks to the bus sale. Now I just need time to play! (Access to our iPad would help as well... *shakes fist at Sailor Moon*)
Loving Audiobus. Made a few songs, first stab is on Soundcloud under the profile Lie-Fi, "Sitar Flux". Used iKaossilator, miniSynth 2, And GarageBand. Too much freaking fun. Crazy what phones have become capable of. Cheers!
Bus Sale Aftermath Just wanted to pop in and review some of the apps I picked up in case anybody was interested... Loopy HD is fantastic. Both as a place to do serious work on songs, and a place to sketch things out. Was goofing around with our 4yo daughter with this and were beatboxing Sailor Moon style. After we did this, my wife wanted a copy and I almost bought AudioShare on the spot so I could email the mix to her - but was thinking that Multritrack DAW or others would be able to do the same thing and much more (but wasn't willing to drop $10 at that moment.) If anyone has opinions on AudioShare vs other similar (universal/Audiobus/email capable apps) I'd love to hear them. Echo Pad is pretty neat in the sense that it is very configurable, but the UI on the iPhone is nowhere near as good as on iPad, and I'm afraid all the granular flexibility may be a tad overkill for most. I don't regret it, but almost feel the $2 may have been better spent on another pedal in JamUp Pro. I really broke the bank to get JamUp Pro and I'm glad I did. The UI is much, much better than AmpKit IMHO, and the effects are very useful. While I do have an electric guitar, I don't actually play and can't speak much about the amp emulation, but I'm having fun with the effects pedals. Will probably pick up a few select pedals in the future, not sure if I'd want enough to bother with the bundles (which the completest in me is clamoring for...) Sound Prism Pro is quite nice. I'm not so sure how much I'll use it, but I could see it being a great interface for jamming. BitWiz makes for a great noise generator. As a big fan of GlitchMachine I just had to get this. Got to play with a few iPad only apps I don't usually have time for - realized that I had Loopesque and didn't know it, but had too much fun with Loopy to try it - Orphion was great for my daughter, just a pad with some notes, and ability to glide from one note to another, she really liked it. Oh, and Sir Sampleton - which I've loved from day one, but mostly as a "goofy record this bit" sampler - is now a much more serious app as I can do things like NLOG -> JamUp -> Sir Sampleton and dump serious samples right into it. I've already gotten a lot of mileage out of it, but with Audiobus I'm gonna get even more. It'll be neat to watch new apps appear (2 more since I got it) and I'm really hoping Filtatron will be soon (heck, it's even in the app store 3rd screenshot) as not only is it a nice filter, it's (at least in part) written by the same guy who did Jasuto and OMG if Jasuto gets on the bus I will be a happy camper. (I'd be even happier if NanoStudio did as well, but it seems like that is not going to happen.)
So, Animoog for iPad supported (yay!!) but Animoog for iPhone not? (boo!) Hope that gets updated - I like to be able to use the same musical apps for both devices. Otherwise, really appreciate the Audiobus sale to compliment the GarageBand update! Kinda feel silly for not having purchased it earlier now that I have played around with it and see all the potential. Much fun! @monoclespectacle - Checked out your soundcloud tune, very well done!!
And the real kicker with that is if you have the regular/HD versions of a supported app on your iPad you can use them both at the same time!
I'll post detailed impressions later...I skipped a bunch of the recent sales; Regardless of price I thought it was high time to come to grips with some of the apps I already have, least I become overwhelmed learning all of the subtleties of new ones...plus, I'm under 50 bucks in itunes credit which triggers a major readjustment in my spending habits. My impulsitvity begins to wane, as I calculate the cost of apps which I want but haven't yet bough, and consider hpw little time I've put into the apps I already spent a pretty penny on.. So while Loopy HD looks interesting, PPG Wavemapper has priority, even if I miss a sale. I'll boot up '76 later and leave another post. As for echopad, I've barely delved into Orphion, for example. as for Soudprism Pro, I still need to put Thumbjam through more paces despite owning it for over a year..I have to find something to delete on my iphone and ipad first. I'de like to start screwing around in Grainbender and a bajillion other apps too. :sigh: up all night, I'm getting some sleep. SOMETIME I'll get around to actually constructing something with these apps. As it is, I have an attention span of a 2 year old. I'll probably need to print out all the manuals and spend some quality toilet time with them before getting down to business. BTW, Audiulus is getting JACK support.
WOW. Audiobus really changes things for me. I made this song on my ipad soon after Audiobus went on sale - Chiki-ti-tas - https://soundcloud.com/#morgantj/chiki-ti-tas
OK, I'm talking to myself here, but I went ahead and bought AudioShare and it's a great little app. Keyword here is little I realized that if all I want to do is record, the more basic the app the better (less CPU/RAM) and it supports just about every form of import/export you could think of (including running as in input app in Audiobus - you can use it at both ends with effects in the middle...) And good job Greyskull for sticking to your guns and working with what you have. Sales will come around again, I'm sure, and sometimes less is more when it comes to creativity!
Just wanted to post that I got word back from the author of Pocket Organ C3B3 that Audiobus support is on the way! EDIT: VirSyn posted on Twitter that all their apps will get Audiobus, starting with iVoxel.
Addictive Synth from VirSyn got on the bus a few weeks ago. One of the better synths on the AppStore, up there with Magellan, Sunrizer, Korgs synths, Wolfgang Palms synths etc. Good to see they're updating all their other apps considering they haven't done that well on the AppStore (for some reason).
Yeah, this surprises me an iVoxel is great, and iSyn held me over for a loooong time (basically until NanoStudio came out.) The overly-neon UI was not so great, but the synths were good.
