Hi! I wanted to let you know about a 3D adventure game we're working on, based on the Beast Quest series of books. Beast Quest is all about: - Massive open worlds - Huge Beast boss fights - Real-time hack, slash, dodge and block combat - Treasure, secrets and adventure Players will take on the role of Tom, and travel around the kingdom of Avantia defeating monsters, finding treasure, and taking on the Beasts themselves. We're still at alpha stage with Beast Quest, but it's already looking HUGE. The first world currently takes several hours to complete. There will be six worlds in total, one based on each of the first six Beast Quest books. As well as the books, our inspirations for this game include Zelda, Shadow of the Colossus, Infinity Blade, Monster Hunter and World of Warcraft. You can see a glimpse of these inspirations in the video below, in which we talked with FamilyGamerTV. The game was featured on WIRED UK recently. I'm guessing that it's the harder to get premium type currency. This game looks very promising but my GOD do I wish they'd just make it a paid game without any IAP. Or even make it so the episodes are paid
It does look promising. I hope the Open World isn't too open and you find yourself wandering around looking for action@
I'm definitely interested. I've been trying to find an rpg to enjoy for a while. Nothing has quite satisfied. By open world, do you mean multiple towns/settlements scattered throughout each world? Will there be depth in quests, skills, and equipment? Thanks for the heads up, looks promising.
Thanks for all your feedback so far! To answer your questions: Thanks! Well, it's still an alpha build at the moment, but we're hoping the first few months of 2015. At the moment they give you an "extra life" if you get defeated in combat. We plan to have multiple quests to undertake simultaneously, and you can roam around a large section of the world tackling them in whatever order you like. By progressing the main quest, you'll open up new areas to explore which in turn comes with its own quests / enemies. So although it feels pretty huge at the moment, it won't be Skyrim levels of enormity/open world It's probably closer to a Zelda-like game in that respect. You'll level up by completing quests, finding items, defeating enemies etc, which will allow you to upgrade your equipment.
Happy New Year, everyone! FamilyGamerTV have released another video with some more alpha footage from the game, including a first look at the second Beast, Sepron the Sea Serpent: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Unless they changed their minds, the developers were planning on it being free to play. One of the videos mentions this.
Yeah the pricing is thworst part of the game. Plus, the rep mentioned being able ti revive with premium currency which can be acceptable since it seems the game is singleplayer-only. However, if they implement some sort of leaderboards which can be affected by these revives, then balance goes out the window.
FamilyGamerTV just posted this Let's Play video of the almost-final build of the game We're gearing up for soft-launch at the moment, I'll let you know when and where it's available.
