Same here!! Hook Champ is one of my all-time-favorites! And I bought the DLC more for the devs than for me
Match 3D Flick Puzzle. I thought it was just another 3D joke. But when I read Big Albie's review with a 5/5 score I tried the Lite version and after 10 minutes play I bought the full version. In fact it's a very polished and fun game and you can match cubes *inside* the big cube The Survival mode where you must have no remaining matches left will eat you brain. Survival mode timed will eat your body. It has myriad of customizable options you can make this game as tough or as easy as you want It even allows you to have many concurrent sessions stored at the same time. So I was really wrong about this game.
Sword & Poker. I thought Poker combined with an RPG, that's just dumb. Then I broke down when it went on sale for $.99 and now I can't stop playing it.
Pocket god. It's been out ages and I though why the he'll would I want a useless app with no point. But actually it's pretty fun and a laugh. Also means I don't have to buy doodle jump!
actually, the doodle jump in pocket god isnt half as good as the doodle jump in doodle jump dunno why, just more fun in doodle jump
battle blasters I sat on the idea of getting it for a few days as the video/screenshots didn't sell me. It was just one of those games you had to play to feel the magic.
I'm having exactly one of those moments with battle blasters, beginning to realise that this one might NOT not be for me!
I didn't think it would be half as good as the real thing. But i quite like the pocket god version so may consider real thing. Good advertising!
Hmm, might be Inotia 2. I didn't really like the style of graphics, but as I was getting used to it, the game just seemed more and more awesome.
Earth vs moon Earth vs Moon is so fun . Hesitated because the screen shots seemed blah but the gameplay and audio are great.
For me the ones I held off on longest were probably "Doodle Jump" and "Spider". "Doodle Jump" just didn't look at all like my kind of game, no matter how many people recommended it. After buying and trying it... well... yeah. "Spider" looked awesome, I just couldn't force myself to pull the trigger for whatever reason. I loved the artwork, but didn't think the whole making webs/trapping bugs would hold my interest for very long. Also thought it looked very "puzzley", and I'm not a big fan of puzzle games. However, I finally bought it when they brought out the director's cut update and it's great. Can't really say about "Canabalt" as I'd played the flash game a heck of a lot before it came to the iPhone, so that was a real no-brainer purchase for me. Another that certainly deserves mention is "Star Rangers". I'd heard about it on the forums, and that it was kind of an updated version of the old Atari game "Star Raiders", which piqued my interest. I ended up finally picking it up during their New Year's sale, and must say that it's well worth the $2.99 it's going for now (and would have been well worth the $4.99 original price). Great game. Though all these comments in this thread about how much people are enjoying the full version of Hook Champ is making me 2nd guess my stance on that game. I played the demo version, but I thought it kinda blew and wasn't really inspired to buy the full. Though it seems other people here had the same opinion of the demo version?
Up there. It's a simple tilt game like doodle jump, but you have to evade the obstacles instead of jumping on them. I saw the screenshots and was impressed by the art (the devs have put lots of love into this app), but the 1.99 price point made me hesitate... Weeks later I just thought "now or never" and got it... too bad you can't hear the background music, or see the animations that show between the different heights, or the mice walking somewhere in the roof of the house where you start... This all creates such an amazing feeling and I am glad I bought the game...
Baseball superstars 2010, I was pushed away by the art style and simple gameplay. When I finally broke down and got it, I regretted every day I hadn't bought it.
