King prawn korma, pilau rice, bombay potatoes, mushroom bhajis, onion bhajis and keema naan. You can pick that stuff up anywhere over here but one in particular was just way above the rest in terms of quality and taste.
Wait, did you eat a meal with your new fiancé or did YOU eat a meal, then she eat a meal, then you shared? Valentine's Day 2009- Seafood GAL OUR! We had everything, and then, to wipe it all down, a mountain of $1 McDonalds Cheeseburgers. And cake, and cupcakes, and candy, and cards. ahhh back when we had some money :/
ooo yes, Non bread and Chicken Tiki Masala (idk how to spell it) I love it all except the hardcore stuff liek camel, lamb, and goat
Nando's. A whole grilled chicken marinated with extra hot peri-peri sauce, golden peri-peri chips, a Mediterranean salad with roasted bell pepper sauce, and a grilled corn on the cob with mild peri-peri sauce.
Lamb shank in fessenjan sauce with rice and grilled bell peppers, and a side of marinated shishkebab chicken.
Oh that's definitely sig worthy. I've never seen camel or goat on the menu before... not sure whats so hardcore about Lamb though... Anyway best meal, tandoori chicken, cheesy garlic nann bread, and a big bowl of chunky dahl, with a roti pisang and washed down with several teh o ais.
Florida blows when it comes to restaurants. And considering I've been living here since I was 6, I have little to refer to back in California. Most memorable meal was probably the first time I ate at CPK, but that's just a pizza and a soda I've eaten over and over again since... I hate it here.
I don't know that I have any one single most awesome meal, but there are four that stick out in my mind as being exceptionally good: - Benehana, an expensive Japanese hibachi grill chain where the chef prepares the food at your table complete with culinary acrobatics. I had a beef and shrimp dish with Asian veggies 'n stuff -- most excellent, and the performance and atmosphere really completed the experience. - The first time I tried chicken makhani (butter chicken) with palak paneer (curried spinach with cheese) and chana masala (curried chick peas) with naan bread to scoop it all up with. It was the first time I tried Indian food in general, and I never thought I'd like it, having lived in apartments many times in my life, the lingering scent of curry never appealed to me, but good lord it was incredible, and now the lingering scent of curry makes me hungry. - Some hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese pho joint near where I worked about 6 years ago; a bunch of us had gathered there for lunch and ordered what they called a fondue. What it really was, was a giant tureen of a hot & sour chili/lemongrass soup base on its own portable gas burner brought to your table along with a massive plate of fresh ingredients -- a variety of raw veggies, crustaceans and meat that you cut and added to the base as you desired. It was cheap (something like $30 for the whole thing) and fed 8 of us with leftovers, and it was some of the best damn soup I'd ever had. - Just yesterday, in fact. The wife and I decided to go try out a Louisiana seafood/oyster bar that had opened near is several years back. She ordered fish & chips, I ordered a jambalaya. Her fish was only one fillet, but it was the biggest damned fillet I'd ever seen. Seriously, this thing had to have been bordering on a pound all by itself, never mind the mountain of chips that came with it. The fish was really good, too -- haddock, but well cooked, flaky, yet firm, and the creamy cole slaw that came with it was the freshest stuff I'd ever had. My own jambalaya was awesome. I've had it before at other places but there was always something not quite right with it, usually from being overcooked. But this one, everything was perfect. The sausage was cooked just right, shrimp was nice and pink, chicken was grilled perfectly, peppers had just enough crunch, rice was tender without being mushy, and the sauce had the perfect amount of kick. Best jambalaya ever. Oddly it wasn't served with oysters like most such dishes I've tried, but I didn't mind, since I don't like oysters.
