I gotta say finding a corpse in a treasure chest is quite hilarious. I love that flavor text.

If you're working on a game like that I'll cream my pants. I'm all about RPGs but when I really love one I want to keep playing it over and over.

Funny that you should respond "Funny you should mention that...", because I was just thinking "Funny you should mention that..." about my upcoming projects. Or something like that ;)

Sounds like we have some healthy competition going here. Dammit guys I'm going to be spending 2x the money now

edit: why is it I feel so much better giving my money to someone I've talked to on a forum?

KushyKush, perhaps because we're not faceless corporate automatons. ;)

Your "cream-worthy" feature is just similar to something I'm adding to Fargoal 2.0. Not sure if I'll do another roguelike after Fargoal, at least not for a while.

As for the healthy competition... BRING IT! ;)

Ohh I'm excited. And I mean roguelike in terms of endless replayability in the form of random dungeons. If any RPG can bring that, and a solid storyline and fun yet challenging combat be it turn based or action has my instabuy

Oh yes, healthy, and friendly competition! I have nothing but good stuff to say about Madgarden's work, and had a nice talk with "Mr Fargoal" himself a while back. Great guys... I'm sure that we'll be able to co-exist and help each other out in the app store and even here in the forums :D

tzual- I'm sorry that there haven't been a lot of Spirit Hunter Mineko updates lately. Big projects for the "day job" are cutting into my work time. That and Rogue Touch EX, which is actually evolving into something much greater than just an "animated rogue". Good things come to those who wait ;)

(No corporate drones around here either: Madgarden and I are just guys making games they'd like to play :))

Hmm i have a question. Instead of making a whole new app for Rogue Touch EX, why not just make a MASSIVE update to Rogue Touch instead of having people buy it again?

Short Answer: Because it's related to Rogue Touch, but not actually "Rogue Touch" anymore.

Long Answer: The code is a complete rewrite using OpenGL. The graphics and animation are all new and will cost me about $5000 when done. Most important of all- I'm changing enough of the core game and magic concepts that it's going to feel very different to play. The project's working title is Rogue Touch EX but the design has evolved to the point where it is so different from Rogue it will get a new, distinct title when done.

Most people that bought Rogue Touch did so because it was a faithful rendition of Rogue, with a few bells and whistles that didn't drastically change the game they remembered from their youth. I cannot change Rogue Touch into a completely different game, that would not be fair for all those who like it for what it is now.

Rogue Touch has been supported by me for well over a year, with many updates. It will continue to get updates, but nothing that kills the classic gameplay and Atari ST/Amiga era look and feel that people initially paid for. :)

ETA for Rogue Touch EX- it will arrive before Spirit Hunter Mineko, mainly because Mineko's scope is so vast! Since I am one guy doing this stuff in my spare time I can't set an exact date unfortunately

Looking forward to Rogue Touch EX, the teasers I've seen so far are juice-tastic.

tzual, this is a business. If your favourite developers aren't able to make a living from their creative hard work, then they will cease to exist and you'll be stuck playing match 3's all day.
