I love these things because one can feel the effort and passion My faves Miracle (1980 ice hockey) Invincible Field of Dreams Bang the Drum Slowly Bagger Vance The Greatest Game Ever Played (Bagger Vance is better IMO) Brian's Song Rudy Hoosiers Raging Bull The Natural (a little out there for me) Bull Durham Above the Rim White Men Can't Jump (ok, so not ALL the comedies are bad) The Rocky series On Any Sunday (still my favorite motorcycle movie) Anyone got some great ones that make you feel like you are caught up in the struggle? I am not really a fan of the sport comedies.
Even as a European, I'm a big fan of Moneyball - and I loved the book too. Friday Night Lights - not as good as the series, but still a decent film in its own right Tin Cup - Kevin Costner has a knack for sports films. This a decent romcom. The Fighter - Christian Bale is always good, but this is one of his best performances. Warrior - Tom Hardy's coathanger shoulder muscles are terrifying...
