      okay..so i need a video editor and im wondering which is the best. i would prefer it be free, but im open too any suggestions.

      iMovie's the best for free, Final Cut Pro second. Only if you have a Mac, though.

      Final Cut Pro looks like a beast, but it's Mac only, and..$999?

      Final Cut Express is only 200$ and well worth it.

      I though am planning to upgrade to pro at some point.

      Best: Final Cut Pro
      Best free alternative: Cinelerra

      For windows there's sony vegas, very nice program.
      Not sure how it compares to the ease of use of mac programs though, but I taught myself.
