Bladeslinger...at least it is something original and not a pale mockery of an awesome PC/Console game.

+1 to this. Totally original at what it was made to be.

I just wish that all of the so-so games that drop to 99 cents were...I dunno...less than a gigabyte or so!

It's like Infinity Blade but you get freedom of movement, you can dodge, block in multiple directions and you have the choice of a gun and special abilities like healing, temporarily upgrading your melee/gun, elemental attacks.

Unlike IB, this game does not have standard combos so you're slashing wildly most of the time. It can get tiring fast, and this makes the gameplay feel a little unpolished. This is one area the devs need to look at. Also having melee+gun combos would be awesome.

Most of the extremely negative complaints stem from not knowing the combat basics well, which is a real shame because this is a good game the deserves more than that. It's important to know how to dodge, block and combo well, and if you do the game will be smooth sailing.

One last thing: this game is worth it at 99c just for the originality alone like violentv said. It's like the shackles have come off from the character in IB/Rage HD, you actually feel like you're really fighting instead of just standing still to shoot/slash.

Bladeslinger, it's enjoyable enough and combat has been captured well.

I bought this game and after paying for 1 hour and I regret it. It's not worth 1 dollar... I will come back to it when the controls are fixed and the gameplay is balanced.

  10. Well, this game kind of reminds me of Dead Trigger, you either like it or hate it. Passionate divisions in both games. Well, I guess I will buy it to see how I fall in this categories. Hopefully, it'll be fun, but for a buck, any game that looks pretty enough is ok with me.

lol looks like someone again didn't bother to get used to the basic controls then complain the game isn't worth it.

Actually the game is easy after you bothered to learn how to use the controls... too easy in fact.

I agree that the controls are a bit different and as such take some getting used to, but it isn't hard though. I just grabbed it and beat the first chapter and I am really enjoying the style, gameplay and the sweet visuals! It is definitely worth 99 pennies, no doubt about that.

  13. Yeah, I pretty much agree with the above. It looks really sweet on my new ipad. The controls are a little strange, and probably will take some getting used to, but they are unique which is interesting. I definitely would buy this over Batman. Definately worth a buck, especially for the nice retina ipad graphics!

Bladeslinger's combo system has more depth than many people realize (more depth than IB and IB clones). There already are revolver and blade loops and charged haymaker resets (non-charged too, in the update), but we currently don't have an example combo list so you have to experiment to find them. If you're slashing wildly, you're very likely to execute a move that doesn't benefit you (e.g. upwards jumping slash that can't be dodge-cancelled just before an enemy attacks you), or "drop" your combo and get hit for it, or accidentally knock enemies down with a finishing slash rather than performing a reset and stacking on more damage.

Swiping wildly "works" for the same reason mashing buttons works in console action games - so people can easily get into the combat system - but it's far from the most effective way to play.

I can't buy this game. Anytime I tap buy I'm asked to contact apple developer support. Why is this so?

Do i have to buy extra IAP to upgrade the combo system or whatever?

I'm worried about this game being an IAP sucker

Nope, you just need to save the crystals to get unlimited Second Wind and everything becames more than manageable.

I personally prefer to upgrade Blademaster (for the knockdowns at lvl 2) along with Brute Force and Charged Fist to at least level 1. If you're using gold on second wind rather than stones and then saving your spirit stones for combat upgrades you're going to be taking less damage because you'll be killing enemies much faster. Spending stones on a Second Wind deck as your first big upgrade will gimp your damage pretty hard and it's really not difficult to avoid taking damage (especially since we added all that extra taunt anim startup to enemy attacks). You can chain all the combos mentioned above without any upgrades though, to answer the original question, but you'll have more moves with Blademaster and you'll do more damage if you combine that with Brute Force. I suggest charged fist just for the early finishing move chance. With the changes to Second Wind mechanic (now it heals half of the health you're missing), it would also be good to upgrade Fortitude (max health) because that makes each use of Second Wind more effective.
