Love the graphic style. Just not keen on the controls. Was hoping this would be a dual stick type of game that’s the only negative thing about Apple Arcade. If I had paid £4 for this I would give it more of a chance but as I’ve got so many to play I’m deleting some to try others. My heart was pumping when I fought the boss and that is a indication of a good game I choice one handed control scheme. How 2-handed is different? andsoitgoes likes this. Love the retro graphics, the dark, oppresing atmosphere and the sound design. Control scheme is simple and the game plays great! andsoitgoes likes this. One of my favorite Apple Arcade launch titles so far. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #10 macplash, Sep 28, 2019 I would go even further and use expression like “...case of cassettes on ZX Spectrum” because I remember seeing floppy disk drive for the first time and it felt like future. Now that I had I just wanted to say this game’s a masterpiece! I’m a huge fan of Pixel Art and minimalistic visuals done right in general. This game reminds me of CRAWL a lot, but on top of that brings that nostalgic feeling from Sinclair era and gaming on ZX Spectrum. Which is priceless for an old timer like me. Of course it’s a modern game and animations are top-notch. I’ve chosen one finger controls which works flawlessly for me. I’ve been able to successfully parry any monster coming at me which never ever happened before. Just read how I’m doing with shields in Dead Cells’ thread. All I wanted to say is “don’t overlook Bleak Sword”. Guys from Devolver made the name for themselves with high quality games in the past. So you shouldn’t be on a fence if you’re (for whatever reason) still hesitant about this game. You won’t regret trying it. It’s why I don’t really slate anything I don’t like unless it’s for the game being very poor rather than not my kind of thing. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #16 macplash, Oct 1, 2019 @ste86uk no worries. I remember loading (sometimes TRYING TO) games via cassette on my commodore, it was magical while at the same time being so amazingly kludgy. I could never tell if a game would actually load. Sometimes it might, and then it was glorious. Actually, I uh think there might have been a strip poker game there. Truth be told I don’t think I once was successful at actually getting to see anything. I was and am crap at poker. anyway, yes this has a huge nostalgia vibe to it while being so polished and current gen. my ONLY complaint is the same sound effects at the end of each level. It started to wear on my very quickly, but everything else about the game is absolutely stellar. it’s no walk in the park but there’s a constant sense of moving forward even if you end up losing. And every battle is just packed with so much tension. I don’t mind a challenge but I also don’t enjoy the impossible (alas cuphead while being a truly spectacular game never clicked with me because it just feels inherently impossible for me) - this struck a good balance. I always felt like I could move forward and did with each subsequent level. Need to put more time into it but there are so many good titles to dig into. Jenny LeClue is my current obsession and the best of the murder mystery games (I’m not much of a fan of Murder Mystery Machine, something just feels.... off). wonder when the next slew of games is going to drop. macplash likes this. I decide to change the control scheme from one finger to 2... and the game makes me restart the tutorial.... OK... I guess because I am using a new control... then It makes me restart from 1-1... what? but my progress to 1-6 has reseted??? I play a bit more... get to about 1-8 and decide to stop and close the game. Later on I restart it... they put me on level 1-2... WTF???? This game doesnt save? So Ok... thinking th game only save at each 1-10? SO I get to 1-10... keep dying at the boss... after 6-8 retries and failing the game makes me restart back to level 1-1??? WHY??????????? I know I sucked at the boss but making me restart the whole 10 levels SUCKS! and No Save???
