Hmm... What about those cone-shaped bricks? Do you have those? Also i would like to see those bricks that connect to eachother and you can move those pieces around? Sorry i can't find any pics of them, but to one side of the brick there are two protruding pieces with little pikes on them, and a connecting brick would only have one protruding piece. It would be cool if you could connect those and move them around...

Also, when you release this, are you going to update it once in a while with more bricks (for example, once every two moths or so)?

    Re: updates.

Most definitely yes. For every feature or improvement that I add, there are another 5 that I'd love to add. I'm quickly discovering that this an app that'll have to have multiple iterations, otherwise it would never be released! At this point though, it's a matter of nailing down what the core functionality of v1 should be, and plan out v2, 3, etc.

Yeah. Good luck with that, and keep up the good work! I have high hopes for this app.

    Review of lego design App

    Hi Corey -

App looks good. As a non-techie and new Iphone user, I thought it might be nice to add on to this app a way to take a photo and have this translated into design elements. E.g. I take a picture of a streetcar or bus and am able to render this into lego pieces (albeit not to scale).

Also, I heard that Lego will take custom designs and produce them for people that want this. A link for doing that too would be great.

    Give it some thought!

Pretty sure a photo would result in a 2D lego model. Not a great looking one either. There's a plugin for 3DSMax that converts stuff into lego, but even that can only do simple lego blocks and requires a 3D model to start with, getting the iPhone to do it would be some challenge.

    Great Work

    Hi,

This looks great. I found your post this morning having typed Lego Touch into a search engine this morning having woken up thinking what whether Lego are thinking of a character customerisation app for the ipod for their upcoming Lego Universe game. (Showcased tomorrow I believe).

Good luck and I'd be more than happy to help with the beta test.

    :) Reggae

Hm... I'll have to look that one up. Did you happen to have a URL for that?

Of course, I'll have to wave a friendly hello to our buddies at Lego!

Would love to beta test and help out with the graphic design of the UI / menus / help screens as well as the copy. Big LEGO fan and that looks really cool.

Just a quick note that I've updated the description of this thread with an updated video...

I managed to completely miss my schedule for beta/releasing, but figured people would like to see what the updated in-dev app is looking like.

This looks great, I will definitely get this when it comes out, only things I didn't see in the video that I might suggest adding are:
    1. The ability to move the hands of the guy in two directions.
    2. Little weapons and things to add to the hand(s) of the guy.
    3. (This is the most important) the ability to upload your creations to the internet!

By the way, I don't want to start a flood of people saying "Can I beta test?", but, can I beta test? I have always wanted to see a Lego for the iPhone and I have gotten to be pretty good in Lego Digital Designer! I've beta-tested a few games before, including Project 72.

Awesome! I can build that star wars Lego fighter using the instructions online, and from the set I just bought.... Now seeing how advanced this app is. I never knew what this device was capable of! This would pobably be one of the apps that demonstrates the advanced capabilities of the iPod and iPhone.

    RE: Release date.
Heh. My release date prognostication has been notoriously bad so I won't give anything firm, only because I'll probably just blow by them again. At this point though, the major features are pretty much done, and I'm closer to finished than started with only a few features still needing to be implemented. Early March-ish is my current goal.

    @MystikSun
Actually, what I'm really itching to do is finish this iPhone version up, and start working on the iPad version. There's so many features and capabilities that I would've loved to add that just wouldn't "fit" on an iPhone, but will work great on a iPad.
