UPDATE 1/31 A new teaser for Bulwark of the Abyss. A deeper look into the abyss, a giant otherworldly creature awaits. There’s something odd... though. A message, perhaps? An action adventure looter with deflection based combat, randomly generated dungeons and open world exploration. As players journey through Bulwark of the Abyss, they will face many challenges... monsters, puzzles, boss encounters protecting powerful items, dangerous dungeons, you name it. To help you in your adventure, those who have spent countless years studying the abyss will grant access to more upgrades like a performance boosting tattoo artist, gear upgrading blacksmith and item hoarding banker among others. With the shield known as the Bulwark, you will equip powerful runestones that add elements, stat buffs and other abilities to bounce, bash and smash projectiles back at your enemies. The only way to save the world is to delve into the Abyss and defeat powerful monsters and regain shards of the abyss... but be careful. If you die beneath the earth, you will drop all of your precious loot. Coming soon to iOS, Mac and PC. (Shooting for Nintendo Switch as well, no news on that at the moment.) Hey everyone! I've been MIA from the forums for a while working hard on Bulwark of the Abyss, my spiritual successor to Gwarmbee and follow up to The Scrungeon Depths. I hope you all enjoy the craziness that is to come, because if you've played my previous games, you know how weird and out of control things can get in a split second. Bulwark is no exception! Check out the trailer, and visit my website to find out more! Cheers! -Chase UPDATE 1/17/20 Greetings, travelers. The logs have been boiling to the surface... from deep within the Abyss. A sole survivor's story. A broken message left to unwary explorers. Messages within the message have yet to reveal themselves. I implore you... decode this sinister relay, and put finality to the creation that is the Bulwark. It may aid in your journey... Or be the end of time as you know it. It all began January 15th. Follow the breadcrumbs, even if they may look stale and dried with blood. http://www.whenslunchgames.com/blog
Thanks mate! I'm so excited and relieved to finally have made an announcement. Been working in the dark for so long. There'll be a beta announcement in the near future, just have to tighten up some loose ends and add a couple things here and there. I'll take it as a compliment!
How long do you think is a playthrough with this game? Look sweet, I love when games like this pack a lot of playing hours
It is definitely the largest game in terms of scale that I’ve ever worked on. Length in hours though I’m not certain just yet, but rest assured: there’s a lot to do!
Thanks, man! I promise I'll keep everyone updated on beta announcements and sign up info. I'm not far off, and I'll need testers! So keep your ears to the ground.
Messages within messages have begun to appear on When's Lunch? Games' blogs... Obviously from the world of Bulwark. But an oddity is left at the bottom of each. I updated the original post.
I'll buy this game just for the eerily banging soundtrack. The game is frosting on the cake IMO. Dang!
Hey all, I updated the original post with a link of the new teaser for a boss in Bulwark. There’s a cryptic message hidden... more news to follow, unless the code can be cracked.
I tried to crack your code but I made it as far as to binary 14 in the end. What are those “coordinates” throughout the trailer I have no idea. I even watched frame by frame just in case there’s something hidden on top of those, but it turned out to be a huge waste of time. At first I thought those are rows and columns in USASCII code chart, but they’re not. And I definitely gave up the moment I went to your site and checked your blog. Since mid January there are daily entries with similar code, even more complex. So, I’m one of those whom wait for the news to be properly announced. At least I tried, right? <@x>[1,6]; <@x>[3,1]; <@x>[7,9]; <@x>[3,12]; <@x>[1,1]; <@x>[3,4]; <@x>[1,11];
Ahh I love it! I’ll give you a hint though, and thanks for writing out all the codes. There’s a blog titled <@X> on whenslunchgames.com/blog ... The coordinates (letter,word) count of a different font. Trying to direct people without making it too easy. But you’re close!!!
Thank you! There's going to be time soon enough to help with a beta MOD EDIT: Now that the beta has kicked off there is a new discussion taking place here: https://toucharcade.com/community/threads/beta-bulwark-of-the-abyss.404533/
