Season 2 - Cretaceous The second season/theme in Cartoon Survivor is the Cretacous season. The Cretaceous season hosts 6 levels with different hazardous creatures and environments. It's not as lush at the Jurassic theme but definitely more deadly and difficult. Here are some original concepts for the Cretaceous theme:
Soundtrack The amazing Curtis Schweitzer, composer for Starbound, Airships and the upcoming MMO Ashes of Mankind, did the music for Cartoon Survivor! You can listen to the soundtrack here: http://curtisschweitzer.com/cartoon-survivor
Season 3 - Stone Age Season 3, the Stone Age theme, is home to our great great ancestors, the Cave Man (and ladies). Here is some of the original concept art for the Stone Age theme and the not so friendly, club wielding, Cave Men.
Only tilt control, at the moment. We promise it's good tilt control, we wanted to do it right. I play it on the train and no one would even know I'm playing a tilt game.
Season 4 - Mayan The fourth and most difficult season in Cartoon Survivor is the Mayan theme. The environment possesses monumental ancient ruins and caves with shooting spikes and deadly chasms.
Season Select Hey Touch Arcaders, On Friday night we submitted to Apple!!!! So if everything goes smoothly Cartoon Survivor will be out beginning of May! We have shared some concept art and gameplay snippets from the various Seasons but I wanted to share what the Season select screen will look like. You select your Season by selecting one of the four animated islands. Once selected this takes you to an interactive map where you can select your episode/level. We can't wait to launch Cartoon Survivor and would love to know if you have any other questions or feedback
Though only tilt, this gorgeous art work is a day one buy for me, no doubt. I really hope this won't come back to you as a hard hitting boomerang. Many other developers made the same (i call it mistake) not so good move with having tilt only. Implementing with an update a few weeks later could be too late. The app store is an unforgiving fast river of new releases. So why not do it in first place...only my $0,02. Will i be able to play laying on my couch, or has the game to be played "flat", and is there an in-game calibration, as well? Good luck! Top icon, btw.
Thanks for the feedback. We discussed this very issue numerous times throughout the development of the game. With the angle (started out as isometric) we felt that tilt control was always the best feel for the game. We were also determined to limit the input requirements and as soon as we added jump, glide and boost it limited our choices for steering. We tested a number of alternative (secondary) steering mechanisms and none felt right. It was important to us to build the best possible tilt control system, we believe we have nailed the tilt control.
We don't have in game calibration because we believe it's balanced enough to not need it. You can play Cartoon Survivor lying down flat, but like most games, this is not the most optimal position. Would love to hear your feedback after it's released. Hopefully we exceed your expectations and set a good example for tilt control games.
Gameplay Preview We wanted to share a gameplay preview of one of the episodes in Cartoon Survivor. This video showcases the Season select screen and the Episode Select screen. Would love to know what you think! Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
