Arn; is there a way everytime someone will pm; post or write anything here; that what they wrote goes though some sort of check up; and if certain words that are not supposed to be written the message is not posted? I have reported like 5 posts; and have received like 2 pms. All of someone selling "cheap Viagra". So can this be done? Thanks.
The guy who was (most likely) PMing you just made a thread about this and the thread was deleted and to my knowledge, he was banned. I don't think you'll have to worry about that guy again, but I don't know about someone checking PMs. That'd be too time consuming and probably unnecessary. It'd be nice to prevent spam and advertising, though, but I think it'd just be to tough to keep up with.
There are always people coming doing this. I say have a generic list; with no-no words. A filter in other words. If ur message has one of the words on that list it is not posted.
I just got that viagra one earlier that danny was talking about. It was my first time being spammed here! lol For the "no-no words list" I don't think it'd work because depending on what words this list had exactly, I'm sure there are some cases where they could legitimately be used. Like if viagra is one of the words, to so those kind of spams....then I couldn't have made this post. But I'm not spamming or using it inappropriately either.
i dont mean not having "private" part. if u post or sent something with the word "viagra" for example; the filter would stop it and notify u that the message was not sent.
Might be difficult to build an effective filter list as the spammers resort to misspellings and stuff (ie v1agra, v.iagra, etc). You build a big enough list to handle those, and pretty soon perfectly innocent PM's are being blocked.
wouldn't a captcha work just fine to filter out the bots that spam like the one on the main page, where you have to type "toast" before you can submit do you know how easy it is to bypass \/iagra Filters
