Have you tested that theory or just basing it on some other info? I have had an app pulled after using icloud and I can not get it from iCloud anymore after deleting it from my iphone or ipad. (duck hunt AR) the only way I could get it back was by getting a copy that I had from an old backup of my iTunes app directory.

I now don't use iCloud for my apps. I use it for everything else though. It would take too long to download the 25 gigs of apps through the internet I have anyway if I needed to restore. It is much faster to restore apps from iTunes.

Lol, who would remove this game from their device? I would literally cement this game into the operating system so that it can't be deleted :D

Sorry for the silence, we're hard at work on finishing touches and the like. We'll have an announcement by the middle of next week. :D

This game is about choice, so the third-person element with boarding ships when it is eventually added will not be required. (And I stress again that the third-person shooter element will probably not be in the initial release, but with an update.) It will be another means to take down some ships from the inside rather than with outside attacks. Your choice.

Now the planetside stuff when it arrives will actually expand the scope of the game, so some aspects of it will likely be required--not necessarily all combat though. But here again, we like giving players the choice of playing fast-twitch or slow, methodical and tactical. More when I can provide details.

As for IAP to unlock the game, I also generally dislike them preferring the game to be full and complete. I have a bunch of devices and the extra step to enable IAP for each of them sounds like a pain. (And any time you add an additional step, it opens the door to problems in my opinion.) We like simple and convenient. And we think our customers do, too. We don't have any IAP for launch, you get the full game experience right off the bat. Depending on sales, we may consider creating a free or lite version for people on the fence about buying. We may also add some convenience IAP later like in-game credits for a buck or two for people who want to jump start their game, but nothing that you couldn't easily get in game by just playing it.

We're thinking of launching with a discounted price of $4.99, then raising it up to its normal price around $6.99 after 2-4 weeks or so. We hope you'll agree that this is a great value. We'll continue to support the game with any necessary bug fixes and lots of improvements and features at no cost. For us, it's about building a franchise, not a quick cash in.

If we do add some major expansion down the road, the plan is to offer it as IAP. Then after some time, the expansion will eventually be folded into the game for free. So what it allows is for early adopters and people who want the content to support us, and if you can wait, it'll be integrated into the game at no cost. We think this is a fair way to treat our players and keep the game whole, but allow supporters to, well, support additional development. :)

    This game sounds stunning

PLEASE add the third person element in a future update, I think that'll really push your game even further

I've been waiting years for a game like this, Elite was amazing but back in the 90's there was an Amiga title (Forget the name) which was like Elite but when you docked in a space station it was then similar to 'Ultima' as in you walked around and went to various shops for items or accepted missions. Always wanted a game similar to that.

The price sounds totally fair for a game like this, love non-linear games and thanks for all your hard work on this, cant wait to see it/try it/buy it !

I would buy this game at any price point below $21.99.

Love the sound of choice and IAP content :D

Sounds like a great plan. I will be buying it day one. I like how you might handle the IAP in the future too ( nothing that you couldn't easily get in game by just playing it or eventually rolled into the game). Those who can afford to support the game if they like it can do so. Sounds great!

Just make sure you don't promise something that you can't deliver in the future or people tend to remember stuff like that when it comes to future titles. If you might do planet side FPS then make sure to state that it might happen and not guaranteed. Don't say it will if there is a chance it will not. Some people might buy it just for that future feature and be upset if it doesn't make it. A lot of developers tend to promise things in the beginning and then funding or other priorities get in the way (I am not saying you will be that way I am just make an observation from other developers). Just be honest about what might stop the development of such features like say it depends on sales, etc.

This is the biggest title that I am looking forward to on the iPad right now. It looks great!

Woah!Announcement next week. Can hardly wait!In all honesty, this game is on the same level of anticipation with Skyrim for me.And with Skyrim coming out tomorow, that leaves only Dangerous in the super-hype waiting line. Finally a decent space-faring game on iOS.And with future 3rd person action.I just really, really hope that this game doesnt end up like the battlecruiser millenium series.Who played those games will understand me.Hope the content isnt spread too thin and the game would be great not only on paper. What can I say guys-you really put the bar too high! :D Good luck polishing the fine details and especially good luck with the approval process. :)

Haha!!! I didn't see it said middle of next week:D

I'm just so exited about this game I only read the next week part
Can you blame for that? Well....I guess one can :D

Do you think it means anouncment of release date, or do you think they'll release the game this week?
Oh wait.....never mind. They would have supmitted the app to apple already if they'll release it this week and don't think they have done that yet.

Sorry to keep you waiting Kbom! psj3809, we have plans to add the third-person aspect later, so hopefully our re-imagining of the space combat RPG satisfies hardcore fans. (Though I'm surprised there's anybody here considering Skyrim was recently released!) And I think I know what you mean, Deathrow, about Battlecruiser by Derek Smart. It was a super ambitious title that I never got to try out, but I heard it was crazy complex with a huge learning curve. And xStatiCa, I share your concerns about over promising. For the app description, we won't list any features that aren't in the game proper, and will hopefully surprise people with the updates.

By the way, here is the first preview write-up by iFanzine:

There will likely be another article on our studio, Binary Helix, coming soon.

Binaryhelix, you should definately check out Battlecruiser Millenium. Its premise is very close to Dangerous-vast galaxy, different ships ranging from fighters to battleships and the most complex interface I have ever seen. I had to read a near 100 page manual just to be able to play it. Not kodding :D .You could draw some inspiration from it for some last minute adjustments, AND learn from their mistakes to improve your game even further. Otherwise BM had some pretty neat ideas. Its free to download.Just google it.Hope my advice helps :) .

OK, BinaryHelix. It is now Wednesday...the middle of the week. Any chance of that announcement you alluded to now? No pressure or anything but today just happens to be my birthday and, on top of that, I was just in a bad motorcycle accident last night. So, I could really use some good news today!

    Thanks,

    Andrew
