Will this awesome game be a 2011 or a 2012 release? I dont knowing if you Can even answer that, but I though I would give it a shot to ask
MUST BUY... album!!! Damn this and last week's releases dried up my funds and there are no good gift card sales around... have to wait a few weeks before something good comes up again
We are working frantically to make this a 2011 release if possible... The album's quite good in its own right.
Great news! I hope you manage to release the game in time for the itunes shutdown (or whatever its called). Crossing my fingers now .
We are eyeing the shutdown dates carefully: December 22nd-29th. We did a test update to the app store and that took less than a week, hope that still holds true... Never got the chance to try Car Wars though Autoduel was based on it. Here's something new. We finally replaced the wonky "programmer art" stargate stand-in with this one (thanks, Karan!):
Shoot, we didn't mean to do that, honest! Here's a look at our newer buttons. Still more work to be done (a few still need replacing), but it's better than the programmer art we had earlier. This is from the Mac build, but the iPad build looks similar.
Definately an improvement! And I'm really liking the whole varied color space. Brings back memories of Homeworld. Btw, do you have any screenshots from the iPhone build? Because I'm sure there are lots of people (besides me ofcourse ) who would like to know how the game looks on the small screen. Anyway, good luck and keep those updates coming .
Here are iPhone 4 images. The buttons may look a little big, but it is about the perfect size for the retina display and buttons are easy to press. This first picture also includes the big fat yellow arrow which is a part of the integrated tutorial. We spent a lot of time on the tutorial to explain controls, but you jump right into the action early on.
Are the ship colors customizable? I don't exactly like the blue/yellow mix of the first ship (the design is cool though ). Man the vessels look like they can kick some serious ass... I do however have some concerns over the legibility of those tiny icons beside the distance gauge. They're kinda hard to read even on my computer screen (1680x1050 so it'll definitely be a problem on my iPhone 4).
Colors aren't customizable, maybe in a future update. Would love to add decals and logos sometime down the road. By the way, each star has a specific color, so the ships are slightly tinted by the star light depending on what system you're in. Good catch. We're increasing the size of those icons for iPhone 4 displays. Thanks!
Aw... can there be at least a few different color schemes so, one won't be offended by any particular color combination? Decals and logos sound cool. How bout some pennants as well? How about, you let the player freely customize the size and position of EVERYTHING? That will make everyone happy .
Hey! You forgot to bring up being able to name and re-name every star, re-mapping of the controls, as well as size, and transparency, and being able to send our ships and systems to other players across the net utilizing the devs own servers!!
Well in that case, I might as well suggest letting players rewrite the code for the game right? I lack all forms of naming innovation so I'll skip with that. Remapping controls? How bout a single button to fire all weapons? (sounds good actually). Good point about transparency. Can't believe I forgot to request that! @sending ships... you should be playing EVE instead of this if that's what you really want On-topic request: savefile editor
Good news, we've submitted the game for review! I don't know if they'll approve it before their shutdown date unfortunately, which is this Thursday. We'll be submitting a Mac app version soon, as well. We are also preparing a PC/Mac demo and will be selling a full version directly from our website, so I'll post more info when that is available shortly. Thanks to all our fans for patiently waiting. It's been almost 3 years, and I'm glad we finally made it to the finish line.
Awesome! Thank you so much for all of your hard work...and this very nice Christmas present! After finishing Galaxy on Fire 2 at the beginning of this year, I've really been looking forward to this! Andrew
Geez, isn't this schedule a bit too close for comfort? Anyhow, if there's a PC version, I would most likely get that instead of the portable versions, unless playing a 4X game on small screens can be more fun.
BinaryHelix, by the way, will saved games from the iPad version be compatible and accessible from the Mac version and vice-versa? In other words, will I be able to switch back and forth between my Mac and my iPad? Thanks, Andrew
