Um... is everything in the video taken from your game? I saw 2D platformer with pixel graphics, point and click adventure, and then some 3D puzzle.
Everything between the sinking scene and the helmet scene at the end. The main game is fully painted and let's you play a variety of puzzles, interact with environments, and you will also be able to find or buy cartridge items of retro games that you can play on computers found throughout the main game. I wasn't sure if I should add the gameplay from the astronaut game in the trailer, but since it was important for the story I decided to add it. I understand why it can be confusing, though.
Seems like there might be some games within games. Commander Cain is clearly a Commander Keen parody.
He is. The main game Daria itself is also inspired by a few retro games, such as 'Litil Divil' and 'Duck Tales : The quest for gold'. Do you know those games? If you know what they have in common, you might find out what the exact gameplay mechanics are of Daria. I will post an explanation of the trailer's story, but first I'd like to see how many people will find out on their own. So, i'd love to hear what you guys got from the trailer...
It maybe better to provide a bit more info how those mini games come into play. You mentioned that mini games have certain weight in the story, but it is quite hard to picture it from the trailer.
