I wish mac would make a macbook that is much smaller, sacrificing disk drive, memory, and whatever else they would need to. Essentially a mac netbook. I would so get that.

I had a netbook for about a year. But then decided to upgrade to a laptop for the bigger screen size.

I have a desktop and my netbook. I love my netbook for going on the internet while crashing on the couch or laying in bed. Its a perfect size and weight. Hard drive space isn't a problem because this comes with a 250 GB hard drive!

I don't understand the need for a Netbook. Maybe for school-related purposes, I suppose, but not for personal home use.

I use mine for school.. kinda haha. They were actually made for small buisnesses and people meeting with clients so it would be a light easy to use and tranportable object. I use mine for word documents, web browsing, and some simple games(fallout, doom, angry birds):D I personaly LOVE MINE.

Isn't that the main idea of a laptop?

Yeah I suppose the 11 inch. But I am talking about one that could be a little smaller and a lot cheaper (say $699 and up).

Netbook is small buisness and way WAY lighter and smaller. I mean laptops yes are portable but not to the point where I would want to lug it around all day. A netbook on the other hand is much more portable.

Basically an iPad with a bluetooth keyboard case is what you are referring to, and that would cost way less than $699 and do way more than the crappy netbooks I see in stores.

Much prefer my laptop. I looked into netbooks when my 4 year old laptop finally died a couple of months ago, but the price difference between a top of the line netbook and my current laptop was was maybe 100 bucks. The extra 3-4 pounds lugging it around isn't going to kill me, and I'm able to do far more than with a netbook.

Plus, at my age the smaller screen isn't conducive for long periods of work.

I have the Samsung NF110 I love the thing it's upped to 2gb Ram, I had the Samsung Nc10 beforehand but wanted an Upgrade.

It's a really good little machine I have no problems with video (under 720p) and can play games with onlive which I never thought would be possible. Nice battery about 10 to 11 hours , Good keyboard, multi-touch trackpad, LED Matt Non-Reflective Screen, bluetooth 3.

Love netbooks I have since the very first EEE Samsung is my favourite make of them so far though.

I have a HP Mini that I bought in 2009. I actually used it quite intensively, though mostly for browsing, light work stuff and watching Go (Asian board game) matches on the couch or in bed. The iPad replaced it for the most part, unless I need Flash or Java on the go, which is becoming more rare. Thee are still things the netbook does better, but for me personally, the iPad covers pretty much most of my mobile computing needs. For everything else there is the desktop.

Ever since I got the iPad, my macbook is being used as a desktop with ipad taking its place in my bedroom. Sorry Macbook. I loved ya but now you're just too old, fat and ugly for me!

Never really felt the need to get a netbook.

Yep, I got rid of my MacBook for just that reason. The iPad made it completely unnecessary in my tech arsenal. I replaced the MacBook with a Mac mini and couldn't be happier with the Mac mini/iPad setup :)

Edit: wait, you're doing what now with your iPad in the bedroom!? ;)

I like my Dell Mini 9 for what it is, but it basically has been collecting dust since the release of the iPad.

They're really not that heavy. Are people that unhealthy these days? A laptop weighs no more than my school books used to and I dragged those around 5 days a week with no complaints.

Netbook still scream "cheap" to me, partly because of the price, but also in the build quality. You get what you pay for with those things. I've always said tablets are still a long way off from replacing laptops, but netbooks are far closer to the danger zone... give it a few more years and tablet quality will make netbooks seem like minidisc players.
