I could easily pump $20 in a single shmup arcade machine so this price is a ridiculously cheap investment in the long run.
Yup, totally agree... Guess there's just a group of bullet hell fans that see the value in the game and a larger group of people who (sadly) haven't really been exposed to the genre, and will not see the value in it until they dive in (but again, sadly, never will because of the price). Oh well... Their loss really...
Out of every other Cave title on the iOS, is there one you guys would consider the best? I'm not trying to drop 8-12 bucks on every title they have at once, but I would like to start with their best foot forward.
I don't mind 12$, but I really wish they made more HD versions of the game. I cannot enjoy their games on the tiny screen. I really wonder why it is difficult for them to make HD games. WHy would their game need more RAM and processor power than other intense games like a Real Racing 2? Because there are more bullets? While on the topic, I heard that Espgaluda II HD wasn't all that of a feast on the iPad as the fans were expecting? Any words on that? I should probably check out the game thread.
It's all personal preference. They each have unique gameplay and scoring methods, and all have fantastic production quality. Personally, Dodonpachi is my favorite, but I know members here who prefer other CAVE titles.
yeah, my favorite is ESPGaluda II... but I can see why people love DDPR so much. I think I like ESPG. more because the original ESPGaluda was the first Cave title I ever played... and ESPGaluda II was the first iOS Cave game I was exposed to. For me, it's more fun than hectic, where as DoDonPachi is more intense... but DDPR has quite a bit more depth than ESPGaluda... Still though, I'll be an ESPGaluda freak for life. =oD
This. I've only played ESPgaluda II and Dodonpachi , wich i grabbed yesterday(!!!) and wow its just awesome, love that both game modes feel substantially different. Love to play 'em on the iPad much more than on my ipod, i feel they both games play really in 2x mode. Great games, gonna get Deathsmiles next!
I don't really know "the way of the bullet hell shooter" but still, like others here I think the CAVE games are definitely worth the money. My personal favourite atm is Deathsmiles. @spidey: Well, I don't want to stir but I think that EspgaII HD was totally worth it. (I have the iphone one too.). CAVE are up-front about some of the graphics in it being standard-def but to me the overall visual effect was, well, grand.
I feel you bro. If my device didn't meet the minimum specs, I'd be pissed too. http://www.play-asia.com/Do_Don_Pachi_Resurrection/paOS-13-71-br-49-en-70-3xkl.html
Because they're actually console games, not just what we call "console-quality," and their sale price on other consoles is many times greater than what they're going for in the AppStore. In short, because they're worth the cost. I didn't pay more than $4.99 for any of them though, and I have all 4 of the ones on the AppStore.
"in short, because they're worth MORE THAN the cost" =oP Shmup fans know Cave games are the cream of the crop... They're of such high quality that chances are, if they were $30 each, we'd still think they were priced cheap...
So, it's actually the FULL console game? Alright, now I understand why it's been praised so much. Well it's about damn time I get a real answer.
More or less. We don't get the "Black Label" extras that are unique to the XBOX360 release, but instead we get the "Smartphone mode" which features an entirely different scoring method and soundtrack.
Which is better? This or Espgaluda? I don't enjoy Deathsmiles at all. The graphics look way too blurry and low-res. It's a shame since the trailer looks great. I quite like Mushihimesama bug panic.
If graphics mean that much to you, I would recommend Espgaluda (although Dodonpachi looks a hell of a lot better than Deathsmiles, and some people find the graphics to be better than Espgaluda's).
