Are Gems also Gifts?

Is there a diff between Gems and Gifts? I've only been playing for a few weeks and I just got online to look stuff up.....

I am very new, and still trying to figure stuff out!!!

 

Only two of my friends have gifted me back and so I deleted a bunch who haven't. I am looking for 4 gifting buddies who will be willing to gift back. I should be able to gift to you every other day. You need to have less than 10 friends even better just have 6. If you have more than ten don't bother unless you are certain that you will be gifting me back (gifting partner). I don't want anyone trying to take advantage of me. Don't send a gem to me until I have sent one to you. I know it kind of sounds a little strict, I just don't want to steal anyone's gems away because there is no way anyone can pay back hundreds of friends unless this game allowed players to give dragons away. Ha!

ok, so, this may not be the place to ask, but i don't see a more relevant thread.

I was able to send out friend requests, and a person accepted. I can see him in my GC list, but when I go to friends on Dragonvale, he is not there, and while it says I have 3 gifts available to send, there isn't anyone appearing to send them to.

Am I missing something obvious?

 

Try rebooting the iPod/iPhone/iPad.... It works for me.

 

I have, in the lsat 1/2 hour, rebooted the phone (twice). Uninstalled DV, signed out of GC, reinstalled DV, signed back into GC ... even signed in to DV with Facebook.

I can see my FB friend, but none of my GC friends

I am out of ideas ...

sometimes it takes a while for them to show. My daughters took forever to show up.
