Ok, to you guitar players out there (and I know there's a heck of you guys out there), I need some modern, easy to play songs because I can't stand solely doing technique all the time. I need to get my jam on. So, while I like the classics, I'm still breaking into them after listening to a s***load of really bad music. I'll get to that when I'm ready. I'm looking for good stuff written from the '90s up. Any band's fine. Preferably something catchy and fun to play that I won't get scared when I take a look at the tabs. Gracias.
Hey kamazar I've started to play guitar as well, and I've found three real easy songs on ultimate-guitar.com I recommend Viva la vida (4 chords that keep repeating themselves: em c d g em c d g....) Boulevard of broken dreams(em g d a), Stan, and Mad world, which uses the same chords as bbod you just play it slower. I can't play F yet but if you can, californication is a good one.
Thanks, but it's a pretty well known fact that Green Day and the guitar parts to Coldplay's song are for the most part pretty easy. I think I learned Viva la Vida a couple weeks back. I'll check out Mad World and Stan, though Come on, I know they're more of you out there!
If you ever feel cocky enough to try to play an awesome sounding song (at least guitar) choose God Knows. Easy songs... tried any Jonas Brothers songs yet? They seem very easy. and popular with the ladies. (By ladies I mean 10 year olds)
Oh, I didn't see this thread before. I play a little gee-tar now and then. When I first started, it was all about Nirvana songs, they're pretty easy and recognizable. Then I moved on to Blink 182 songs. SUPER easy and recognizable, but sort of made me feel like an 11 year old girl. And since we have been talking about Radiohead lately, a great song to learn is Fake Plastic Trees. It's pretty easy and fun to play. I'll think of some more and get back to you.
Jonahs Brothers, really? At least I can get chicks with Maroon 5... I think. God Knows... hmmm, haven't heard them before. Yeah, I should be trying some Blink-182, they've got a few good songs, but they really a boy band. Fake Plastic Trees seems ridiculously easy. I'll check that out. Thanks guys. Still open to any suggestions, but I should be good for now.
Oh and enter sandman and stricken too. If you like stricken then just tune it to drop C and then I'll tell you the bars to play if you want to play. Dont do the tabs online, they are really fricken hard
Jonas brothers was a joke. I've heard one of their songs, and there aren't even any chords. Of course, I can't play guitar, so I wouldn't know if they really are, but they seem so. And God Knows isn't a band, it's a song. It's japanese, though, but the opening is badass.
Yeah, I just listened to it. How the hell do you expect me to play that? I can barely transition from an A chord to E without gapping the song. The intro to God Knows is all over the place.
I don't. XD Hm... I listen to electronic a lot, so I can't really help you with easy songs besides that damn kiddie music.
I wonder if there's a tab for Sandstorm. That'd be so sick. Shame on the rest of you for not telling me how easy "I Am the Highway" by Audioslave is. Shame on you. God, I love this song. Tackling "Like a Stone" afterwards.... seems slightly scarier.
These may not be modern, but they're really recognizable amd pretty easy: Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood and the Destroyers. The main riff is pretty easy and it also sets you up for a little improv between riffs Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple. Main riff is very easy, and the guitar solo is also pretty easy IMO. Also, I would be incredibly surprised if you found anyone over the age of 10 who hasn't heard the main riff. Born to be Wild (I forgot the artist). Very recognizable and IMO very easy. Also, why are you looking for easy songs? If you're trying to show off, challenging songs work best. Besides, you'll never get anywhere with easy songs.
When I was starting to learn "Smells like Teen Spirit" was the song everyone was learning. It's actually a great one for practical reasons. You'll get practice playing the two major bar chord fingerings. Those can be tough when you're just starting out. After a while, though, they become second nature. The first song I learned was "Time of Your Life" by Green Day (I'm absolutely not a fan though)
The first song I learns was thunder kiss 65 by white zombie and then a slayer and pantera song. Only 3 covers I ever learned now I refuse to learn any more only origanals and I learn much more and have more fun that way.
