They did a great job bringing NBA Jam over to the iPad everyone should snap it up. The only thing really missing is online play (though it does have local). It will even resume your game right where you left off. I just wish all of EA's offerings were this good. They seem to be a crap shoot. Dead Space was also amazing but even just in videos Bad Company looks down right awful.
Just seen that, Tiger Woods 2012 is imo the best golf game on the iphone and EASILY worth getting even if you have 2011 (and yes I've played most of them). It IS hard to start with, your stats suck at the start
I need some help/suggestions... probably being the last day of the sale, i'm conflicted over a few titles, even if they are just 0.99. Every penny counts for me. BTW, I'm on an iPad 2 for clarification - will be buying the HD versions of all of the above. Scrabble - should I get this, or skip it for all the negative reviews it's been getting? Is Words With Friends HD a better option and, does it have all the same gameplay modes Scrabble HD does (2-player offline, etc)? Battlefield - the online modes would be the only reason for my purchase on this. Are there enough players/servers online, or is it relatively dead already? How do the controls hold up on an iPad 2? Mirror's Edge - really split between this one. Some say it's great, others say the controls and swiping is very unresponsive. What's your guys' verdict on this?
Scrabble: Well if you want board game like this, it's worth it for the price of 99c. Battlefield 2: I hate the controls in this game. Get NOVA 2 instead which is much better and more players online. Mirror's Edge: Hasn't tried yet.
Mirror's Edge (I played on iPhone, but the mechanics shouldn't be too different): the controls are really about timing, it's unresponsive if you don't time it correctly. And try doing long quick swipes instead of short strokes. I didn't have any issue with the controls when I timed them (obviously speaking, I had some issues when I swiped randomly...)
Has anyone recently tried Simcity Deluxe(does it still crashes a lot) or The Game of life on iPad(strangely no reviews on Toucharcade for iPad version ) ?
I agree, also it is a fairly short game but going for .99 and the extra features of the ipad verision make it a good buy.
For all the silly people who actually considered Shift, if you didn't buy, then you're in luck, for Real Racing 1 is now on sale for .99/1.99 (iPhone/iPad) and Real Racing 2 is on sale for 4.99/6.99. There is no reason to play that god awful game known as NFS: Shift when you have these games.
My kids love Mirror's Edge, a LOT. I do, as well. It actually reminds me a lot of the console version, in a much, much more simplistic way of course. The multiplayer, especially on the same device, is a TON of fun. Especially for kids the iPhone version has none of that, so if you just look at it from a content standpoint, you're getting tons from the iPad version. And in both, the music is just stellar. WT? I actually really, really enjoy the NFS games. They're shallow, but just FUN. The graphics are fantastic, the music is great, and if you get them for a buck, you're getting a lot for the price. I don't need a realistic racing game, but if that's what you're in the mood for, you're going to like RR a lot, LOT more. Me, I don't. Scrabble - I like it a LOT more than WWF. The interface is great, I love it. The ability to show the points before you submit (I still don't get why WWF doesn't have that, and why everyone loves it.) There's a dictionary, which wwf doesn't have, you can play in portrait AND landscape, again what WWF doesn't do. But, everyone plays with WWF, and it's a shame, because I like Scrabble much, much more. I even prefer Lexulous doubled over WWF. I gave my impression on Mirror's Edge, but I haven't played Battlefield. Hope that helps
Seriously just took advantage of this sale along with Gameloft's. Bought 20 of their titles in total along with $20 worth of other iPad games xD. Woot, first time I've ever got to buy something from EA/Gameloft during a sale since I got my iPod January 2009 instead of debut day xP.
Oh, I don't have anything against the franchise. I've enjoyed other NFS before and I agree with you that they are fun. But Shift, specifically the iOS version, is just downright, absolutely, completely, truly a piece of garbage that shouldn't even be worth downloading if it was free.
