For the love of Christ, stop quoting posts and saying 'Exactly', 'Mhm', 'QFT', 'You are correct, my good sir!' or other stupid things! It's a waste of time! We've already read them! But since you know your stuff (obviously ), would you you please tell me how in the world NGmoco is supposed to support a free online game which has quote-unquote >100,000 people joining every day, all the while having no definite source of income? Why not just make it $0.99 and get over it? Take a look at the thread I created. WE ARE the hardcore gamers. Not that many people here are willing to buy energy packs often. NGmoco is going to be forced to drop Eliminate because it can't afford it's servers after awhile.
We're not speculating whether it is good or not, like I have told you before. We are speculating on whether or not everyday people, not hardcore gamers like us, will pay $0.99+ a day in order for THE CHANCE to advance more in the game. My side says Nay, their side says Aye.
It's my right to say whatever I want. If it wad up to me you shouldn't ne allowed to post at all. Your posts lack even the slightest trace of any logic. How is ngmoco gonna make it? The have huge piles of cash that 99% of all other devs don't. They don't need to earn much cash since they will have their plus+ network grow and be able to deliver ads striaght on your iPhone. If you start your game say 5 times a day you will see 5 ad impressions. Do that whole month and they bulit the cheapest ad network ever. Those servers won't add up to more than 30000-50000 a month. That's nothing for them. Guess what their staff costs them?
What I'm failing to understand is how could anyone be sure of it's success/failure when it isn't even out yet. You may just speculate and nothing else. So far I too haven't said it'll be a hit or flop for ngmoco. It seems like they could be loosing on this one but I'd like to believe that an experienced dev team like ngmoco would know quite a bit more than me or rest of us gamers. So let's wait for it to come out first and then say if it'll work or not. Let's admit it. You seriously can't say that just yet.
Atleast he's trying to express what he's feeling about this whole thing. You on the other hand seem to just simply agree or disagree with others posts
You my friend, are... well... I can't even explain you without using words that would result from me being banned from the Internet. Listen, I'm going to try to explain this too you calmly. First of all, look at the way I write, look at the way you write. You type like a dyslexic zombie. Great grammar, great sentence structure, great use of ellipsis (sarcasm), etc. You yourself should go back to school. Secondly, all your posts so far have not helped one bit. They have said 'Exactly', 'Mhm', etc. Either that, or you angled them at me. Thirdly. You still have NO (Yes, I super-bold-italicize-underlined that for a reason) idea what I'm saying, as you blatantly and unintelligently tell me "...the economy is hard these days!!!!". Fourth, you say I shouldn't be allowed to post? You do nothing. You quote, you type stupid posts that are meaningless, you think they help but they really don't, and things like that. You, sir, are on the official: Brazilian Rider's BANNED FROM THE INTERNET List. Good Day.
You forget. It's not just the ability to pay to play more. They're going for those impulse buyers that think "oh its just .99 cents more to make more credits and i can get that new gun." They're going for the impulse buyers that fortunately for them make up a majority in the app store. As for your other point, everybody's saying this over and over and over again. They're betting on the chance that they'll make money in this. It has been shown that this business model works as stated by arn and Hodapp. I dont understand what you dont see in it. To simplify again: top paid downloads: 10-20,000 per day top free downloads: 100,000 per day Assuming only 10% use in-app purchase once paid app:$ 10-20,000+ 1-2000 free app:$10,000 where bold represents the money generated DAILY from a one day sale on top charts. Assuming 10 percent of the people use in-app purchasing, the reflected amount is up above. Now, you can either sell 20,000 apps and get $2000 per day. Or you can give away 100,000 apps and get 10,000 a day. What do you think is better? The folks ngmoco are betting on the latter. it may or may not work. But for my point of view, i dont see it failing. i just dont, its a great approach that few companies like ngmoco can have the leisure of doing .
Haha. You edited your post. Feeling proud now that u have a big paragraph written in your post Anyways, try n keep ur language a bit cleaner. It's not a war going on here which you HAVE to win.
Damn you killed it right there. I haven't read anything productive or meaningful from you. All you say can be summerized in the following statements: - I don't know how ngmoco will make it. - I think think they should have charged 99c like every other company. Even though that makes zero sense. Even arn gave up on this one. - I'm a hardcore gamer. I don't buy in-app stuff. Ok! That's about it really.... People gave up explaining stuff to you already. Think before posting.
That is true, but how many impulse buys are they planning on? I don't think it will be enough to support the MASSIVE amounts of players people are betting on...
Most people gave up explainig this to him. He won't get this...we all already gave up. It's just too hard to undertand that sometimes one has be innovative in order to win.
Love how you type better now, but we're actually making some progress. 1) I'm concerned about the companies future. Sue me. 2) How does charging $0.99 make no sense? 3) TAKE A LOOK AT THE THREAD I MADE. A LOT of people agree with me. Have you ever thought that people gave up explaining things because: A) They signed off. B) They realized I was right.
WTF??? I just edited it because there might be some kids here who really suffer from the crisis and really do have a hard time. That's all. No drama.
Yea but remember Hodapp said: Read above, and then read again. And like i said before, even if it's a low percent of impulse buys, the fact that there's a huge percentage of people donwloading this app is what will make people download it. HEck you can play without paying for it how many do you think that will attract. If say, 10 million users download it and 5 % do in-app purchases daily, thats still 50,000 a day....A DAY...all assumptions of course.
I checked his history, he only did a few one-liners not enough to cause a big issues And you think the CEO's and peole that run the company dont?? They are game industry veterans. It would make sense if they HAD to, like tap tap. But by not charging they broaden their audience and increase potential sales. Maybe, but I still think you're wrong I'm still trying and i'm sure it's mostly A rather than B
Let's sum this discussing up a bit. - We don't know if it will be a huge success or a complete failure. Nobody can predict that, but given their track record the future looks promising. - They have some really smart people and have some nice statistics of people buying in-app stuff from their apps. They have calculated how much they will be making with different scenarios. - The fact it's free will only help the game, since they can decide to charge for the app after a couple of weeks if they feel their model doesn't work. But most likely it will generate a huge hype and people will still spend a couple dollars on average. - As far as I've heard from the Community Day discussion, they will have server specialists and they stated that their current infrastructure will suffice for about half a million players and can be upgraded just like an in-app purchase . New servers can be bought and installed within 1-2 days. - They have tons of cash... They just received some fresh money and I can see ads pop up in their new Plus+ games. - I also expect that we might see some slowdowns at the release, since I'm not sure if they are counting on a hype or not.
1) Why would they pay for something they don't need? After awhile people will notice this... Then where will the money go? Remember that the people who download nothing but free apps will be in strong numbers here, and if they won't pay for apps I DOUBT they'll pay for in-app content... 2) So you're saying that every five days or less they're going to have to buy new servers by using the money generated in in-app purchases? 3) I do agree that arguing is pointless (and that most people just logged off, I put number two in there as a joke) since only time will tell. But I think it'll be how I predicted.
