I'm fighting the urge to buy it at the minute I really want to but I'm seriously low on PC space at the minute and I've been reading a lot of bad things about it's performance with AMD cards. I've even been entertaining the idea of buying a PS4 mainly just for this game (and my vita) but I'll wait and see as I think the PC mods are what really made their previous games last so well.
Apparently consoles are to support mods, think Xbox One is out of the box supported, PS4 'soon'. If anything like Unreal Tournament 3 on the PS3 most things will work but not all. Having said that I plan on getting the GOTY edition on Steam when it's released and on sale, by then it will be an excuse to replay a new character. If you do end up getting it, search for a list of supported names when doing your character - not a spoiler but you will be referred to it by at least one of your companions which is a nice touch.
Yeah I did read something about that but I don't think anyones quite sure by what they are really going to do and I think things like the unofficial patches are pretty vital with Bethedsa games, although the thought of lying in bed and remoteplaying on my Vita is a very tempting prospect. Not sure what I'll end up doing but I'll hold off for a month or so but I'll definitely end up playing it at some point though as I do love the fallout games.
25 hours in and I haven't even reached *minor spoiler* Spoiler Diamond City yet. I'm having too much fun building up my settlement and wandering around
I'm thinking about grabbing this soon, but I have one question: Can you make more than one character without deleting your previous character? I just assumed that you could, but I saw a previous post on this thread saying that they might buy it on steam to make another character, so I though maybe that meant you couldn't.
I think that might be based on something I said earlier, it's what I did with Fallout 3, Borderlands - grab GOTY from steam for another playthrough when it's cheap. As for your question, there's no limit to concurrent characters/story playthroughs
It's fun when you exchange the Dogmeat model & skin with a Deathclaw model & skin. Ever seen a Deathclaw fetch stuff for ya?
How optional are V.A.T.S in fallout? I'm not a huge fan of non-realtime combat but I could deal with it as long as it wasn't mandatory for every engagement.
Theoretically you don't have to use it at all, in practice you will if you use firearms due to differing creature levels, sometimes taking a fair amount of damage and typically fast speeds. Well, you will probably end up using a mixture, either that or taking lots of Jet and/or Buffout.
