I stopped after FFVII haven't gotten any of their new titles till Dimensions. I just love the classic look. I'd rather good storyline VS futuristic graphics
The last FF I enjoyed enough to finish was 3 (US). Got to the end of the first disc on 7 (US) and got bored to death with the cinematics and the drama (it wasn't very dramatic to me). I know that's the one that created a billion FF fans, so to each there own. The 2 that are on sale...what are their American equivalents? Also, are they universal or iphone only?
Final Fantasy 1 on iOS is FF1 (NES era) as always in North America but with some tweaks; Final Fantasy II was previously unreleased in US (at least NES era; first North American release was in 2003 Final Fantasy Origins anthology). The iOS Final Fantasy 1 is based off the 2007 Playstation Portable edition with extra dungeons and translation changes (first introduced in Gameboy Advance era 2004 Dawn of Souls edition). The next North America release was Final Fantasy IV (released as FF2 in North America) so japanese Final Fantasy 2-3 plus 5 were previously unreleased at time of origin; but now all nearly on iOS. Subsequently japanese FFVI was released in North America as FFIII. Then with Final Fantasy VII both Japanese and North America releases matched again. It makes my head hurt...
Check here http://http://www.thefinalfantasy.com/games/ I stand by FFV Snes being the best one ever made
Haha... I can't decide between 5 and 6, but out of everyone I know, no one else has said that they love 5. You would be the first... Least that I've seen. I'm sure there's others, but I haven't caught em say it. =oP And Greyskull, yes, I and II are iPhone only.
I bought FF1 during the Christmas sale and I regret it. I can't get into it - awkward UI (on an iPod), no directions from NPCs, no map, repetitive boring combat... Great music, of course, but as a game it falls flat, IMHO. I love the FFIII port, though. It was my first introduction to FF and I can certainly feel the magic.
I agree Final Fantasy 1 is not for everyone. It has an open world vibe that can feel aimless at times (without a lot of direction from NPCs). Although that's a strength in my opinion I can see how it would be confusing. It's hard to call Square Enix money grubbing when they're sitting with the stud that is Final Fantasy 6 in their vaults. If ever there was an easy cash grab title to pimp out that would be it. One day it will re-emerge...
I can't hate on them, got some great memories from those games I even played all the GameBoy titles even FF Adventure
Love 5 too, its right behind 6 and 8 as my favorites. Really like the snes and psone era games, couldnt get into the series after IX.
just a few hours ago i was telling myt GF how pissed i was that there was a recent sale on the EU PSN for FF... and there as none for NA... been wanting to get FF Chronicles and FF4 Complete for my Vita... I guess having FF1 on my iPad for $4 would be nice even if i really want it for my Vita
I know I'm jumping back into this thread awfully late, but did anyone, back in the day, go hunting for a semi-secret Mecha-type monster in FF1 on the NES? I think it was in a long hallway in the last dungeon. the odds of having a random encounter with the dude were pretty damn low, but he dropped some awesome loot. Think I found that out through Nintendo Power.
Boycotting games is a fairly new trend... 15-20 years or so Doesn't have to be new to be annoying though.
