Jailbreak Questions Hello again I'm trying to decide whether I should jailbreak my iPad Mini or not. This is my first iDevice, and I have never jail broken before. I have a couple of questions. 1. If I jailbreak, will I lose the credits I currently hold on FMA, FAS, appjoy, etc.? I read in one of the earlier posts by violentpunk that there's a tweak called XCON that lets me bypass jailbreak detection, so I am hoping that I can continue to use FMA, FAS, etc. after the jailbreak. But I don't want to lose the credits I currently have, if jailbreaking changes my device ID. Or do you guys recommend that I put the jailbreak on hold, collect enough credits, cash out, and then jailbreak? 2. Do Amazon GCs work with Cydia? There seems to be conflicting information about this. Some websites I checked said they work, some say they don't. I also read that iTunes GCs cannot be used to purchase apps on Cydia (makes sense). If this is the case, I might as well use my FMA credits to get Amazon GCs, and use GnomeEscape for my iTunes needs. If even Amazon doesn't work, then what alternatives do I have to use my FMA, FAS credits for buying things off of Cydia? Thank you for your help. This forum has been super useful to me!
Most people I know jailbreak because they are lazy, I get pretty much any game I like or app for that matter through sites like FMA, FAS and Gnome Escape. If jail breaking is so good, how come the people I know who have jail broken devices have to do so many work arounds, run on dated ios, don't know about the latest games, have to manually update everything and they always seem to have a fairly rubbishy range of apps in their device. Nope, jail breaking just seems gay.
Not to start anything, but saying something sounds "gay" makes you seem very immature. I'm not flaming; take that as advice. To the point now: Jailbreaking has many benefits disregarding piracy, which i would not do. I'm contemplating jb'ing my ipad for a few reasons: There is a Cyndia (the jb appstore) app that allows you to upload and save data from apps; saved games, for example. I would like to be able to move files to my PC without having to email myself or uploading to a cloud service. I also would like the ability to move files from my PC onto my device without having to go through itunes (a piece of buggy garbage. Emulators, virtual os's, etc. Being able to fully manage my device without having to connect to iTunes, including installing apps. I would still buy my apps through the itunes appstore, but would install using iExplorer.
Um... Currently jailbreak only serves to improve your iphone/ipad functionality. If you have heard the news... you can pirate games without jailbreak now. And they will release the 6.1 jailbreak tomorrow.
No they do not. Amazon GCs ONLY work on Amazon.com. If a site uses Amazon Payments, but isn't Amazon.com it will NOT accept GCs. Even AmazonLocal won't accept Amazon GCs (which is kind of silly). You clearly have no idea what the benefits of Jailbreaking are for. I've been Jailbreaking my iOS devices since the 2nd gen iPod Touch and there is more to it than just pirated apps. There are tons of mods you can do to your device to make it so much more useful. As someone has stated, there's an app that lets you backup your save games to Dropbox. This way you don't have to manually do it by attaching it to your computer and looking for them. There are tweaks that add a bunch of functionality to the notification area like quick toggles (flashlight, wifi, 3g, airplane mode, etc) so you don't have to go through a bunch of menus. There are tweaks that will let you compose/reply to text messages no matter what's open on your device so you don't have to quit out of a game or video just to reply to someone. There's a tweak that is like AdBlocker on browsers which is super convenient for a mobile device. Even something as simple as adding the DATE to the status bar comes in useful and is crazy to think that Apple doesn't have it. All these apps/tweaks isn't about being "lazy". It makes using the phone more convenient.
1. No, you won't lose any points!(Your points are stored in the respective servers, not(only) on your phone, so whenever you install the certificate, your points will be retrieved from the sever to your phone) 2.Available payment methods in cydia- Amazon, Paypal I wouldn't recommend paypal, as you have to pay some taxes for your purchases. And no, iTunes GC won't work with cydia(DUH!) on a "totally" unrelated note, all DEV's are against piracy, even saurik. (There is a Chinese app that allows you to install paid app for free w/o any need of jail braking your device and also there's another website that gives you a key file to patch all the paid apps and install them in your device(w/o jb), but they charge you for the key file!) so don't blame it on jail breaking. In My opinion, not jailbraking your device is like using your pe*!s just for P33!ng.
Jailbreaking can't be achieved by some voodoo magic, It takes months of hard work to develop a stable jailbreak and every time it requires a completely different exploit, show some respect! P.S The govt is willing to pay upto $250,000 for an exploit, but instead of selling those exploits, the dev's are giving you a free jailbreak.
While we are on the subject, is it true that you have to restore through iTunes to update to 6.1 if you want to jb? I don't have enough free space on my PC to backup the apps... Wait are we allowed to talk about jailbreak?
Yes, you should update/restore using iTunes and not OTA. I wrote a wall of text to explain it, but I thought it would be easier to just give you this link: http://modmyi.com/content/9911-preparing-your-ios-device-imminent-ios-6-jailbreak.html You can backup your apps to iCloud before you update and then restore it from the iCloud backup after (might not work for you if you also need to backup >5GB of music/videos/apps on the free iCloud). The update itself is about 900MB so you'll need at least that on your computer just to download it (not sure if it will need more to decompress or something). If your device feels sluggish or has bad battery performance after you've finished everything try a hard reset.
yeah kuaiyong is an interesting story of how China doesn't have access to all or everything itunes etc. i still like the jb idea + the try before you buy, with many co not offering light version etc. nice to try out "wrestlefest, tecmo bowl" to see if its worth $1 or $8!
