Ok...well, during the periods I have used FMA (which began with the first post in this thread; the first thing I cashed in on was Amoeba Battles), I've never gone that long without dl'ing something. Well, I have, but at the time I just deleted FMA because I had cashed out.
Multiplying the price of GCs by nearly 10x is what ended my flirtation with FAS. It's essentially the same as what FAD used to be. Plus, it's the most broken service I've used. Frankly, I felt that they insulted my intelligence the day I saw an Amazon GC cost about half the price of an iDevice. If they never put up GC's again, maybe I would be okay with it. But if they intend to stock gift cards, they need to stop being cute about it; charge a number of points that is obtainable. Fact is, you might not like them so much if you started using FAS when they launched the service. It's obvious (and I thought this might happen) that we were used to spread the word and get more users for them. Then, once they hit some targeted number of users, prices skyrocketed, spins plummeted, customer service went on "ignore".
FAD is not FAS. FAS purchased the defunct FAD. And that said, FAD did its customers right in the end. I ended up getting multiple opportunities to cash out all my points for games and give them credit for putting up apps, etc. after announcing that they were closing (when they could have just disappeared into nowhere). Did you stick around long enough and did you know they returned everyone's points and put up lots of apps? Reliable probably isn't a term I'd use to describe FAS either, but people in this thread seem a bit ungrateful given how much free stuff we've received over the last year from these companies. It's hard to run a business.
I agree that's absurd, and if you're doing this for GCs, FAS is a bad choice. No doubt about it. But the business model (outside of those ridiculous prices) isn't that bad. I got FFIV when it was on sale for like 60k points which was a steal. So while they may jack some prices up, they also have had the equivalent of sales at times. I agree with you that they've gone downhill, but that's life with any business these days. I say it about all my favorite restaurants. After hooking me with reasonable prices and large portions, the prices slowly go up while the portions slowly go down. That's a standard business model unfortunately. Get the customers and then cash in (to a degree). I'm not saying they're great, but I'll still take the occasional free app from them for free.
FAS: Can you give us a timeline for when you'll get the iTunes GCs back up? This is dragging on too long and it's just getting silly. We are still using your gambling service under the terms and , binding, promises you set a while ago.
While their intentions may be to help you make money, you must also understand that they are motivated by the prospect of building their income base. 99% of the sponsor apps are monetized, not to mention the IAP's. Also, don't forget the fact that most of the apps are rip-off's. IIRC, they charge the dev's around $0.30 for each download. If you look at the big picture, neither the dev's nor FAS and other similar services are losing their money. People with a lot of ref's are the one's that should feel grateful. And we should only be grateful for genuine users (who actually use those apps) and to these people. There are literally 100's of sites similar to FAS and tens of thousands of services on the internet to make money, the amount of time we put in matters! FMA & GE are the best , FAS is the worst.(FAS is getting richer by the moment, you just don't know it yet!)
Everyone is motivated by the prospect of building their income base. That's basically why we're here. So? Some are very good and I'm glad I downloaded them. Based on the fact that FMA, just to use them for this example, gives varying points depending on the app, I think the dollar amount varies. Developers and services such as FAS have absolutely lost their money. Many developers gain nothing from these services (just like some gain nothing from sales or giveaways of their games). And I imagine FAD lost money in the grand scheme of things. If they were making money, they likely wouldn't have walked away. Overall, I generally agree with you. In the grand scheme of things, and in a perfect world, these services should work for everyone. While that's not always the case, it wouldn't hurt people to be a little more grateful for all the freebies.
FAS added Mittens to their wall. Also with FMA having the app points available, I was able to be credited via download. I don't think this offer would last much longer. I thought it was a good tradeoff, esp. since I'm moving away from FAS.
Yeah, it varies. Tapjoy is usually the cheapest, hence the $0.02 apps on appdog! but I doubt they'll get any exposure. Maybe FAS made a mistake buying FAD and maybe they're just covering their losses.
It doesn't matter how you twist it FAD=FAS now And as stated the same pattern is visable again. And yes in the end FAD did the customers right but it had more to do with the "relaunch" and the public outburst. If they didn't give the points back or give us a chance to redeem do you really think many people would trust FAS or give it a chance? Publicity is all you have in this kind of business and they did what was right for their business but the question is...if they didn't plan on relaunching do you think they would have done the same??
ge yeah 4 apps, with 1 free code to ATracker isn't bad, nice to be getting 8 reviews a week now (knock on wood) App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.
FMA is only for US and only has stuff useless for me, and GE only offers apps. I am currently using FAS but they didn't have ANY new apps in a week in the UK
You can use FMA with a US iTunes account and redeem US codes on it. You can also use the Amazon vouchers on a US Amazon account and buy things like Microsoft Points and PSN cards.
Just a head's up for everyone thinking about buying PSN/X360 codes from Amazon.com Even if you have the amount needed for buying it,you need a CREDIT CARD.Amazon.com won't let you check-out using GC balance.I tried that and I can confirm it.
When the were more generous, 560,000 points (no referrals, I had a 500000 point spin) got me a 50 dollar itunes giftcard ALONE.
I live in Russia and redeemed a lot of iTunes and Amazon GC, there is not a problem to get this GC outside US.
