I'm working on sending it out right now Thanks! Great advice, I'll pass it along to Sean and we'll see what we can whip up
Thanks for the e-mails, a lot of great feedback in there! I'll send you some detailed comments once the holidays are finished... and on that note, I probably won't be back until the 26th or 27th so Happy Holidays everyone! Hope everyone who made it into the beta build has a lot of fun -Stephen
The first new screenshot of 2011, to kick off the end cycle of development: This is an image that appears around the standard bearer to indicate the squares where he is effective. Much more alpha'd than the regular action squares, so that you won't be confused into thinking that you need to take an action. Thoughts?
Just a note about the game icon, you should abbreviate the name. "Furiou...ctical" just seems bad. P.S.- Can't wait for this game by the way. Great art and concepts! =)
Definitely a valid point, we will remember. Do you guys think "F. Tactics", "Furious", or "Furious T." sounds better?
I've been working on the shop screen - the screen that never dies! - a lot today and I think I finally got all the info I want in it. Given the info that each unit belongs to a specific class (currently the classes are ground, mounted, and base, but we have the intention to add more), is the below screenshot clear? We also now display the moves that units have beyond attacking. For example, the Fire Wizard (now properly named!) below has the Fire Ball attack: And when you touch the icon, information now appears (note: this following screenshot includes the return of the dreaded programmer art): I know ... interfaces ... something only a programmer would love, right? Yet if they're not good, even if the game is fun, it can be very difficult to play! That's why, even though they're not the most important part of the game, I keep posting them here, so I can get your guys' thoughts.
I'd suggest you use "Furious" because "Tactics" is generic- just how many games are there with "Tactics" in the name? So "Furious" is more appropriate. Abbreviating only one of the two words also seem a little weird.
+1, I like Furious Tactics... the Tactics tag helps define the game and without Furious it just sounds blander. ...if it must be abbreviated then I prefer "Furious T"
Thanks for the feedback guys! Don't forget that the abbreviation will only be on the iPhone home page - in the app store and in game it will still be referred to by it's own name. But as you can see in this screenshot: It doesn't quite fit! Anyways, for the past little while I've been working on this screen... Once again, it's a little bit worse looking now than it will be once I get final art from Sean but this is the first pass at what will appear when you attack another unit, so you have a decent idea who is likely to win (in this screen, it's Derian).
I think for the image above you might want to move the 1 & 0 next to each of the corresponding units (i.e. above each of the sword icons) or you could change the top arrow from red color to green, so it's easier to see who has the advantage.
Yeah ... I'm still fiddling with positions of some things to make it clear. The arrows being different colours is something I talked with Sean about, but is not yet in
This is coming on great, looking forward to it. Constructive critisism: The blue box with dark blue border looks cheap, the white text difficult to read without contrast, not sure if it is a mock up for the main thing... Just my 2 cents, needs some texture to it or something and needs contrast Btw check pm Broken
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use a cartoony font in the final game! new times roman is going to bring back bad memories of history papers!
