It has been a pretty intense week here. Broken Kings started it's game-a-weekend last Friday, and we created Skwerl, which is pretty awesome. You'll hear more about it soon . Tues-Today I've been working on the Player select menu. This is where you pick which species (mouse, cat, dog) you want to play as, which players you want to be human and which you want to be ai, etc... Of course, I'm not going to post a screenshot because it looks butt ugly right now. Sean has been busy cutting up the dog and cat spritesheets all week and hasn't had a chance to make me any art for it. But we will (finally) have dogs and cats in the game very soon!
ok based on what i have read so far, the game should be called furriest tactics. furry as in small animals and stuff....btw somebody give me a rundown on the game
Thanks for the feedback so far folks ! Here is an updated image concerning the pre-battle outcome screen. Elements have been moved around, fonts changed, etc. Hopefully this will address a lot of the issues presented.
It's finally happened ... we've got the cat and dog units in Check out these screenshots: Cat bases at the beginning of the game, first time the game has run with them in Cat units in the shop screen More coming soon!
Not just yet, we're getting closer to a point where we should be able to have some details about that though.
how difficult would it be to add battle animations like in fire emblem, that would definitely make this game shine. that is something that made fire emblem totally awesome
How exactly do you mean? you mean the 3D ones in the Wii/GC ones? That'd be hugely difficult, since everything in the game is 2D. XD Some new screenshots for you guys; one bug and two new little pieces of polish: Mid changing to the new font requested, we ran into this bug ... one of the fonts we tried didn't want to cooperate with the game endine Another request: an undo move button, in case you move your character to the wrong square. Lastly, another requested feature: craters on the ground after the fire mage has done his thing
Nah I'm talking about the 2d ones in the gba versions that would add a new dimension War of eustrath has a little battle scene but it takes way to long, something like the fire emblem (gba) would be totally awesome, like actually zooming in and having unique little moves for each character as they attack like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tibhK8tjLyI
That would be awesome. But there are a variety of reasons why that would be unfortunately impossible with this current version of the app ... the amount of resources required would probably take months at our current resolution (not even considering potential memory issues), going down in size would cut out resources we've already spent months on... and honestly, my biggest fear, is how much extra time those types of animations add to each unit. We are a small team and I want to be adding tons of different unit types in the future. With the way it is now, each unit already requires a lot of resources (idle anim + 3 walking anims + portrait, * 3 species, * 4 colours, * HD vs. non-HD) = 120 pieces of art per unit already. After the initial release, I really want to add a lot of different units, similar to what we did in Castle Conflict ... but the more resources required per unit, the less we'll be able to complete in a given timeframe. So unfortunately, I don't see that happening ... at least, not unless we are successful enough with the first update to grow our art team and programming team a bit. Which is a shame, because you guys are right, it'd be really sweet to have that stuff in.
We're about one interface from the next ad-hoc build ... if anybody is interested please let us know, we're looking for up to 5 more testers
